    Seriously??? He did say "Texas" and "Mexican". I'm sure taxes and healthcare is not in play here. And here in Texas I mow my lawn from March to November so there's not much downtime for the lawncare industry.

    Would the LIbreOffice project be interested in picking up Thunderbird? After all Microsoft Office has Outlook.

    I made the mistake of trying Evolution once. What a PoS. T-Bird/Lightning would be a good addition to the Libre suite.

    I spent all last week hearing about the damn cloud and Oracle OpenWorld. And the company that I work for has their heads in the cloud now. It will be interesting how all the datacenters in the world are consolidated into these cloud providers. They are just making sweet targets for terrorists around the world...

    Gartner reports that enterprises they surveyed "have plans". Just roll your eyes and walk away.

    Started in 1985 as a sysadmin on a VAX 780 running BSD 4.1. Soon after that I was thrusted into the workstation world with Apollos and Suns. Touched a few SGIs, AIX, and other Unix workstations along the way. Then when Unix started hitting the datacenters (early '90s?), I moved to the server world and have been here ever since.

    if you have an automatic transmission, the "gas" pedal is merely a "suggestion" to the system that actually controls the throttle...

    It doesn't have to be an automatic transmission. on my BMW with a 6-speed stick, the "gas" pedal is nothing more than a potentiometer that feeds the master computer and said computer controls everything including a stepper motor connected to the throttle body...
