If you would read the article closer they are adding water where it was not before. NOT replacing oil with water. When they frack a well they inject water into the shale to break apart the shale into pieces which releases the gas. They extract the water when the fracking is done but the water is tainted with whatever they added to use for fracking and sediment from the shale so they cannot just dump the water. They must dispose of it somewhere and that is what these "wastewater injection wells" are for. To send said water way down in the earth like a deep water landfill....
and I haven't felt the earth move once. I'm pretty sure the fracking has something to do with all the quakes around me since they started just a few years ago. Not that I'm defending the drillers but a 3.X earthquake doesn't do a whole lot of damage. Probably why the drillers are still getting away with continued fracking. If we ever get something in the 5.X range then it might raise some eyebrows...
I am aware of the Linux distros for SPARC. I started working for Sun around that time and there was a big push for everyone to become OpenSolaris "champions". And at that time, OpenSolaris was not available for SPARC so that is how that played. It was a sad day when I packed up my U5...
I would imagine the helium component of the total mass is so small that you would be hard pressed to see any difference between a helium-filled platter chamber and an air-filled platter chamber as far as weight goes...
My question is why do trucks have to be large??? If you go to ford.com.au and lookup the Falcon UTE you will find a "truck" that would fit most people's needs and get great MPGs. Boggles my mind why the US auto industry doesn't offer choices like this.....:'(
a) Realising that you don't drive a diesel like petrol
b) Driving anything with a manual transmission
Not this American. I have drove nothing but diesel vehicles with manual trannys for 20+ years. It boggles my mind why the US auto industry hasn't embraces it....
I'm not sure how they can say you owe $675,000 for stealing roughly $30 worth of products. If I stole 3 CDs from Wallmart, would I also be charged $675,000? What if I stole $30 from someone? I am not familiar with the case, but I don't see on here that he stole with the intent to undermine future sales of that company, causing significant losses.
They are assuming you will re-distribute the stolen music via some P2P mechanism. The question is: Is that a fair assumption? The *AAs think so and that's how they lobbied to get that ridiculous law in-place.
Why don't we regulate all apps? Look what happened with Knight Capital. Of course the FTC can call "do over" when a financial app goes bad. Kinda hard to call "do over" when something goes wrong in medicine. Will doctor's malpractice insurance premiums be affected by what software they use? The possibilities are endless......
I'm continually dismayed that large numbers of people (possessing enough intelligence to use a web browser) don't realize that the FBI using email or popups to demand summary payment of "fines" without due process is implausible and illegal.
Just about everyone that watches WWE and has a computer would fall into that category...
I have to give the perps credit it was a clever idea. Sad that this sorta thing goes on...
Google just patented "Google Lasek" where they replace the lens in your eye with an LCD insert.

Running linux on apple products is no longer an easy thing to do.
Sure it is. One word: Virtualbox

In the beginning I ran Slackware.
Then I picked up a SPARCStation 10 on eBay and ran Solaris 2.5.1
Then I picked up a Sun Ultra 5 on eBay and ran Solaris 8
Then I scrapped SPARC and went back to Intel running OpenSolaris
After the Big-O bought out Sun I switched to Ubuntu and still going strong.
I'm glad I don't work for a surgery center with the same mentality...
Amen!!!

Yea... That's a credible witness...

"ethical, responsible hacking" ... Really? Is that what Stuxnet was???
I'll take that over a TV any day of the week. Especially living in DC...
