    The apple angle is the NSA slide from 2008 that states that they can always break into apple software everytime as long as "the software" is an iPhone and they have physical access to it- a guarantee that is being given here by the NSA. meaning they say its being build and they will have it ready real soon

    All publicly funded apps should be for free, open source operating systems, unless there is a really good reason for them not to be. Android, mobile Ubuntu or Linux for the desktop. Give patents live CDs for use at home, with the added advantage that with the CD the kids can't be distracted while doing homework by games etc.

    And since you brought it up, you should be forced to provide the course for free. And since it will be crap, you should be tarred and feathered. Sounds like a great plan.

    So, you really think a netbook is inherently more useful than, say, a 16" Alienware powerhouse?

    That is a bad comparison because it misses the point of WHEN smaller is better

    I think mine is a good comparison, since, "in just about any area of computing," the Alienware beats the pants off a netbook.

    More specific? Like "My Alienware would be so much better if it were an inch thicker"?

    That's not even true for US citizens, let alone for foreigners. Also, many of the people at Gitmo were innocent. Some of them are still there, and the US doesn't know what to do with them.

    Did you even read the comment to which you are replying? 0.05 x 2 is less than 0.12 Therefore the discrepancy is greater than 100%.

    Actually, this just quantifies something we already knew. By ignoring polar regions the CRUTemp reconstructions seriously underestimate warming. See polar amplification.

    Well, at least the "skeptics" were right to point out that it was a bad idea to reduce the number of stations in remote regions.

    this stuff is all so ridiculous. the small amount of greenhouse gasses that we as humans put out is miniscule compared to the total output.

    And the drop that makes a glass overflow is tiny compared to the rest of the glass.

    Regardless of which side of the warming debate you're on, hearing reports that a climate projection was off by half doesn't instill confidence that scientists really understand what's going on.

    And having somebody claim this is about "climate projections" will show us what?

    The first link in the summary links to the paper published by the Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society.. The youtube video makes the science accessible to the layman.

    Corporations like Apple pay less in taxes because they can find loopholes.

    We call them loopholes specifically because they present a way to do a run around the intent of the law. Simply by speaking English correctly you have doomed your own argument.

    Laws aren't defined by "intent" but by the words they are written in. If the lawmakers fuck up, it's their fault.

    Well in this case, apparently not.

    I think that's precisely why Apple is being investigated here, what's mere avoidance in other countries sounds like it may well be evasion in Italy.

    RTFA - they did the same investigation the last couple of years and nothing came of it. This is nothing but the Italian government trying to give the Italians the impression they are trying to balance the budget by getting money from the evil Americans. Hey, and it even works in the US.

    Maybe you don't know exactly European taxes laws.

    Either him or Italian politicians. Many of whom are known tax frauds. No, wait, those actually knew what they were doing. Anyway
