If you believe that Amazon will only use the page reading statistics to pay (or rather not pay) authors, you are, well, just the kind of person Amazon is looking for.
This situation is not quite the same, because the Apple site is streaming, not downloading, its content. Users can't just grab all the music they can during the trial period and then keep it.
I don't stream or download music, but a search for "record streaming audio" brings up a lot of results. I'd be surprised if at least a few of them didn't work.
In which case the artists loses royalties for one play of their song getting recorded, not for dozens or more they claim. Maybe they should really worry about all the money they already lost to that instead?
Strangely consumers haven't been trained yet to make their purchases at the same rate forever after an album is launched. Ie, an album released during the three months is taking a larger hit than yoko ono is.
So you are assuming that they will only have one popular song in their entire career, right?
Whose privacy are you taking about? A company isn't a person.
No, but the employees are. And the dirty emails they write to each other are very private - well, "dirty" as in "about sex", not about corporation crimes.
Have Catholic schools started training suicide bombers?
Nope, just IRA bombers. Now whether that's smarts or cowardice that's kept them from killing themselves (apart from those that did it accidently), it doesn't make them morally superior.
Nor for that matter the bible thumping protestant KKK killers and abortion clinic bombers.
How is this at all what Wikileaks is supposed to be for? At this point it seems more like crass voyeurism than any type of serious attempt to shine a light on corporate misconduct. Sure, Apple asking Sony for 4k content is interesting from a business perspective, but wrong-doing that needed to be exposed it is not.
If Amazon accomplished nothing else, Kindle has sold the idea of the e-book to the reading public.
Yeah, that whole "selling ebooks below cost to drive the competition out of business while selling proprietary ebook-readers for far more than everybody else" business tactic sure worked fine. And as an Apple hater you of course love getting it up the ass from Amazon.
You are a fucking moron. The Surface Pro 3 uses a dual core, ultra-low power CPU too. It is not a full blown i5, it is a U series and it still significantly outperforms the iPad Air 2 tri-core CPU.
The processor alone uses more power than an iPad. If that is "low power", than that's sad.
Yep. Secunia just created an opportunity to make a bit of cash at their expense.
You mean someone will collect the data from all over the internet, then sell the collection (and provide automated alarms by email or text message) - just like Secunia does? Or will they provide it for free, add supported - and after a few weeks will close shop, because others copied their data, and did the same? So, not quite exactly what Secunia does?
This just proves that some people don't just want an iPhone... they want everybody around them to know that they have an iPhone.
No, it proves that apple wont allow anyone to use their brand or trademarks without adhering to their rules: one of which is "Thou shalt not cover our logo"
So if a phone case manufacturer wants to make a case that claims to be for the iphone6, then they have to play by apples rules. You'll probably notice its very difficult to sell phone cases if you're not allowed to say which phone they are for...
Becuase he is hire H1-Bs to replace all. So he is looking to hire foreign females, but get US Gov to give money for education that for jobs that will not be.
Well, if there are so many foreign female engineers and programmers - why are there so few American?
All kinds of people say they are iPad fans, but many of the people stuck with them are kids in schools that assign them an iPad. And believe me, anything a school assigns to kids is the opposite of 'cool' and few of the kids will be 'fans.'
And most people stuck with a Surface are football coaches and players forced to use them by the NFL.
In these form factors, it's no longer a question of peak CPU performance. These processors all thermal-throttle to the point where none of them are going to be performing at peak while in these form factors. The same i5 in the Surface will provide significantly more performance when in another form factor (like a NUC).
Of course Apple claimed they put a lot of effort into improving the sustained performance of the A8 over the A7, which already was better than other ARM chips. And it actually looks like they succeeded: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8666/the-apple-ipad-air-2-review/5
the keyboard that is of quality is not only 25$. Sure you can get one for 25 bucks, but it wont be of quality. i know this because i bought a 35$ one before
So you bought a crap $35 keyboard once, and a crap $1000 Surface Pro now - I detect a pattern.
i dont think it was ever a question. the surface pro line has always been the powerhouse.
Considering it has a full notebook x86 CPU (and not a ultra-low-power one), while the iPad has a ultra-low-power ARM CPU, the Surface Pro should be fucking ashamed it only is 25% faster.
Oh, and since this is a SP with an i5, it costs at least $999. So much for price equality...

>She is a pop-country singer that comes up on a regular basis with catchy tunes with clean lyrics
Max Martin wrote most of 1989. He is a 43-year old Swede. The music today is all manufactured and tuned, like a McDonald's hamburger for your ears.
Martin has written many albums for pop singers, and is responsible for a good many of the songs you might think that others wrote.

What's your point? That music was better back when everything was written by Irving Berlin instead of one Swede?

That is just coming out on June 30th, too.
Whose privacy are you taking about? A company isn't a person.

Exactly - when did Wikileaks jump the shark?
That would be never.

Another idea is a strong (very stronk) AI analysing video material for concepts/objects/ideas.
Yeah. HTML's alt text as a compression algorithm - now that's a new idea.
Blah Blah. Amazon is not innovative, other have done it before blah blub. You Fanboy.
If Amazon accomplished nothing else, Kindle has sold the idea of the e-book to the reading public.

Mod Parent Up.
This has to do with ebooks in a particular program where many authors were abusing the system.
This is a good thing.
No, it isn't. Even if there were no other ways to detect "lending abuse" by authors, that's no reason to spy on the reading habits of the readers.
If the fucking NSA were checking which pages of books you read, you'd be up in arms, but since its Amazon, it's okay.
Not to mention that the abusers will find a way to defeat that silly control scheme in no time anyway.
You are a fucking moron. The Surface Pro 3 uses a dual core, ultra-low power CPU too. It is not a full blown i5, it is a U series and it still significantly outperforms the iPad Air 2 tri-core CPU.

and that VIM customers, "have full access to all advisories."
Ha! Take that, Emacs users! ;P
You joke about the confusion - but one VIM (the editor) update from RedHat actually wiped the data from the self-hosted version of VIM (from Secunia).
Yep. Secunia just created an opportunity to make a bit of cash at their expense.

Bullshit
The Google "Google" on Egyptian Google mishap was fixed in no time. But that was costing them money, so no wonder.
So you admit that you want Apple to use Vulkan
No, I never said I wanted Apple to use Vulkan.
Great - now you don't want them to use any graphics acceleration. Way to prove you don't have any irrational hatred of Apple.
Woz might be standing there himself, to jump on unsuspecting visitors.
i think you're overreaching a bit.
As opposed to the article?

So you want to nuke a large part of humanity
No, I'm saying we don't want them to be able to nuke us. That said, the comment was meant as more of a humorous and cynical observation.
That makes even less sense: why would they nuke the place they want to migrate to?
