Indeed. I had fun writing assembly code that protected the DOs partition and obfuscated the MBR upon boot unless you typed the correct password. Or having fun with mates, intercepting the writing calls to the floppy disk and encoding everything. Here, lets write this floppy disk for you to take some files. Also wrote a virtual floppy disk in RAM. Heck, one of my first assembly programs in the PC was writing an emulation of mouse via keyboard. Gave it to some jackass friends that I do not know why in earth, changed my name to Electronic arts as it was being used to play with Deluxe Paint. My final project coursework was a Spectrum Z80 emulation, and had a companion DOS program that read software on tape via SoundBlaster or the parallel port. http://ruka12.tripod.com/wspec...
Apple is too darn expensive. Do not get me wrong, we all at home own iThings. Everyone my sis home earns iThings. Heck, even my 70 year old father owns an iPad and sees his youtube videos in his smartTV. So getting to the point; app buying is comparatively cheap, and I bought more software than I ever had in any PC or Mac I owned in the past. The model is practical and the prices are fair. However, musics and videos, either for rent or worse buying, are definitively not worth the price they are asked. They are at least 2x to 5x times more expensive than they should be. If Apple just was able to change the tier pricing modelling, they could even make piracy not worth the time to their users at large, and I bet they would make far more money than now. Pity the media labels are greedy bastards.
However, first IT or the sought after upper the ladder tech jobs (not bullshit management), are for people with experience, and older. IT is no longer for people who dabble in it like when our generation started, but for more qualified people. Also due to the "economy", often one tech is doing the work of between 3 and 5 people and that accounts for more stress. People nowadays also worry too much about things that we consider minimal, and have to do a ruckus and a meeting for nothing, and for things that are routine. (...)
As a side anecdote, I do remember on my later days of Ultrix administration of buying a scsi2 hard disk that was far cheaper than the ones from DEC. It was far bigger than the supported ones and was backward compatible with scsi1. The biggest disadvantage is that I had to modify some obscure table (it was 20 years ago you see), to be able to partition/format it. I also had to make some adaptation to the bay, however I managed to get a disk 2x or 3x times the size of the ones DEC sold and saved a lot of money on the process.

Don't get me started on stacker, which was eventually bought by MS and incorporated into DOS (6.20?). It was brilliant for the time and at the same time dangerous. Many lost their data to it. The least hardware or disk corruption and you were toasted.
This is worse than Debian deciding it is much work supporting people running Apache and upgrading all the servers to Nginx wihout our asking because it is "better". I do not see why you dont bugger off too.
I guess it is a coincidence most of the corporate people I know carry their mandatory Windows Phone and an extra iPhone. I think thats because Windows is so ahead of time, they must also use something from the present.
It was the strategy they used to kill Java, however they are forgetting nowadays there is one thing called phones. I guess this is also a two-pronged approach to augment the library of Windows-phone supported apps in a very near future.
Are the modern Christian accepting of other faiths? How about the brouhaha about Wicca, the national news of the murdering of a redneck by people of the town because he was an atheist, and the regular punching of coloured people in the festivities that say happy holidays instead of happy xmas? And that is only what we know outside the USA.
It is normal moron. In fact 1.5 generations ago men in many parts of the west preferred them too. People in the west are conditioned too not like hair because then again it is also in line with the consumerists views, spending money to keep the hair out. I also remember that back when I lived in a country where the woman had none of facial hair, a mixed-race one with a very slight tone of hair in the arms could be quite erotic. I also look them shaved, however do not be a bigot. It IS perfectly normal, keep it on.
This. I could not really attend classes where the professor only read the book. Boring as hell.
If only someone invented something called a Virtual Private Network....
You people are forgetting the obvious use of dabbling in assembly today. Hacking software for instance.

How to stop sexism on slashdot articles?
As everything else. In music, movies, drinks, women. So where are the news, exactly?

Actually rumours were QDOS originally was cross-assembled and a little bit massaged to work. Now that if they were true, no idea.
Why not running netbsd? I think there was a port.

You can keep your societal good and mine too, and give me the money. I won't complain.
Celebrate what? Long hours of work, not su much better pay?
Lets make it equal then. Fire 2, hire men. By this retarded logic, it makes sense actually.
It is a statement that deviations from the brainwashing for the masses are not "anormal" and exclusive to one culture.
Do not be a fucking pussy. I am seeing all the time women events, try to organize a men-only event, and tell me what happened.
Your god is pathetic and a fairy tale too, moron. Can I sold you?

They do not needed to be herded as far as I remember.
