  1. Holy fuck...

  2. Came here to post this but looks like many of my Slashdot brethren have already stated the obvious, heh.

  3. Re:Wrong Headline... then MOST telescope on After 15 Years, The Humble Space Telescope Can No Longer Be Powered Up (twitter.com) · · Score: 1

Which still doesn't make the headline "completely wrong" and their incorrect conclusion can be assuaged by simply reading TFS. Source: I almost lost my shit when I read the title as "we just lost the HST" lol. Click-bait for sure, and it worked, heh.

  4. I'd heard of Brave before (in face, I have it installed on my phone) however, I didn't know they made a desktop counterpart. Checking it out now, thanks!

This is, of course, only until Vivaldi finally produces their mobile counterpart. I LOVE the customization ability of it, brings me back to my Opera (Presto) days.

  5. I REALLY need Vivaldi to come with their mobile browser (or an easy way for me to sync things with any browser that's available on iOS). For now, Firefox is top-notch when it comes to sync, and Chrome/Chromium isn't bad at it either. It's very nice, must-have for me.

Original Opera Presto fan, and Vivaldi Snapshot user since 2015, but just can't use it as my primary browser until I get the above :/

I thought that's what this article was gonna be about, I'm so anxious to hear about those results.

  9. Replying to undo downmod...meant to mod HILARIOUS lmao.

All jokes aside, seems easy enough and if not, we're bombarded with similar stories like this seemingly daily. How tf does anyone ever leave a public-facing anything unsecured? I just don't get it, smh.

  10. I hear your gripes and the do have merit. In the 5+ years I've run my own sever, I'd say there were 3-4x that I had to sit down and figure out wtf happened and fix some bullshit that came up, in the meantime not have a working email address. I do run on a VPS so I never had to deal with reverse IP lookups or anything, I could imagine how much of a PITA that'd be trying to work with the imbecile front-line techs at your ISP, wouldn't want to deal with it. _But_ I don't think it's bad at all, especially after initial setup -- initial setup was def the worst part. And honestly, I've neglected my mail server a bit due to some things I won't mention here and it does need a lot of TLC, I'll probably end up moving away from my current setup (postfix/maia on FreeBSD) to something a little easier to maintain...it's EXACTLY like your cactus/chainsaw reference actually, lol. I'll give you that hahaha.

  11. There's a huge difference in maintaining a personal mail server, and one used by hundreds or thousands of staff.

100% agree on this :) In the context of the article and GP's comment though (i.e., personal email server), I stand by 'ease of use' comment, heh.

As far as maintaining an enterprise server with 100s to 1000s of staff...yeahhh, that's a whole other beast, and honestly I'd probably peddle that off to a company that spcializes in that, just for sake of my time and agony maintaining the damn thing, lol.

  12. It's really not as hard as you're making it out to be. I've run my own personal email server (on a VPS) for several years now. Yeah it can be a PITA to first setup (but not really, I've dealt with much worse) but once you get everything configured properly, maintenance is as simple as making sure all your software is up-to-date and staying on the lookout for vulnerabilities.

Of course, I do this sort of shit for a living so...grain of salt.
