Sad thing is that is what the FCC is supposed to be doing. Limited resource for the public good, but the current meme of 'private enterprise is the solution to all problems' has twisted their mandate into enforcing who gets exclusive lucrative access to what is essentially a shared resource.
frankly, i prefer private enterprise to another bloated nanny department. did you know TSA has 54,000 employees? last thing we need is a weaponized FCC "enforcing fairness."
I have certainly given 150 or more lashings and seen others give even more/harder lashings but, I doubt anything we do in our bedrooms comes close to what these guys do.
From my experiences, and talking with friends, we ALL pretty much refer to the toilet as "the Library"...we all catch up on our reading while sitting on the can.
Why should the company have to regain any trust anyway?
it needs to regain my trust because currently i dont' trust it to keep my data confidential. instead of "teh cloudz" I'll use desktop services where I own my data. because I don't trust goog.
of course, to be fair, there actually is some value to what goog is doing. even though NSA can snoop at their leisure, I still want to block my CC from (private) criminals. ditto, identity thieves. so maybe 2056 is good for that?
I love how this is an article about how goog is increasing security, yet 95% of the posts are about NSA snooping. This is the flip side of the PRISM stuff - a company will never be able to prove that NSA is NOT snooping. Once the public loses faith, it will be really hard for a company to regain it. maybe this has already happened...
doesn't matter how many fps the blue ray or your tv have, if it was filmed in 24fps that's what it will be. the blue ray or the tv could interpolate to get faux high FPS, but then you get the soap opera effect and still the pan blurring (because each movie frame in the panning shot will be blurred, so there's no way to interpolate in an unblurred fashion.
I see nothing in TFAs which support the question in the title or the speculation in the summary. True: BM was re-hired in Oct for continuing hardware work. Informed input: Apple is struggling to move SoC production, but looks like they're stuck with Sammy for the short term. Utter leap of speculation: because of this, BM was fired. wtf? leave the speculation to the ACs, please.
"why do you think cyan/aosp isn't spying on you? And what about all the malicious apps? if i lived in china, home of the filthy filthy app store, I'd want some protection."
Because the source is freely available.
so flipping what? I am so over these types of comments. You know, the tax code is publicly available too, but nobody knows what sort of financial traps could be there. have you code reviewed the code? do you know anybody who has? is there a third party auditor that does these things? hint: no, no, no
also, there are women here, who may mod down comments like OP's "i'd fuck that" while still being heterosexual themselves. Or maybe it was a man who wants slashdot to be a welcoming place where all men and women come to discuss technology issues. Or maybe it was just somebody with an aversion to assholes (the douchebag kind, not the backdoor kind).
to be fair, the red space will always be at the bottom of the pack. violet space FTW!

I refer to it as "my most personal sphere."

Android 4.3's restrictions, google's no-server limitations, etc are all pushing the masses towards sheepitude
that's why i like my iphone - always on the cutting edge of the next trend!
At first I was confused by the headline, but then I realized tha
*pedant

It's called private key, you cretin. Now, go smoke some weed and don't bother the grown-ups will you?
Let me draw you a picture...
Me <---- (SSL) ----> Google ---- (SSL) ----> NSA
I thought it was
Me NSA Google. isn't that why they call it MITM?
your an idiot
why did God grant wings to birds and not to us?
i never thought of it that way. wtf, God! i mean, come on! throw me a bone, here.
no contradiction here. the article is flame bait, regardless of any poster's political or religious views.
my newest computer doesn't even have a disc drive...
Mine still does.
I've yet to figure out another way to backup my music and movies to my NAS in a manner that also produces interesting coasters.
Why don't you back up to your NAS and use your blank discs as coasters.
> Why do we care about 300GB optical disks, when I can fit a terabyte of data onto something the size of a fingernail?
Do you have one of those? How much did it cost you?
maybe the dude just has gigantically big fingers.
