1. take out your spare wheel
2. put it between his fender and your fender
3 shunt him back
4. drive forward one yard
5. dont forget your spare wheel
6. leave a note for him, sufficiently sarcastic with a false number
that should do it
i dont need a new pair of sunglasses, but thanks for the offer. Also thanks for the sarcastic response. The truth is i had nothing to add to the conversation so i decided to go for an obvious pun, to be honest. I like making puns and please stay tuned for the next one, you better respond when i do.
Getting kids into coding is like getting them interested in meat packing or textiles -- industries which are career dead ends. No business hires domestic programmers anywhere, especially when a call to Tata can get guaranteed results for a fraction of what a full time employee would cost, not to mention the other benefits (smaller payroll tax, less building space needed, one less employee that you have to worry about suing at a drop of a hat.)
Instead, get them interested in what matters: Debate, accounting, business, finance. It would be nice to even have a class that discusses critical court cases and encourages legal research. These are majors that once they are in college, they might have a hope of feeding themselves and paying back student loans.
Last college job fair I went to, the only people recruiting CS majors in the US, was the Army for enlistees, and you don't even get a choice of MOS, unless 11X is your choice.
You are the one that is deluded. You think programming is a dead end, yet you hold debate, accounting, business, finance in high regard. Have you worked in all these areas? Neither Have I. One should pick a academic route that interests them and fits their personality type.
the percentage spread between pro and con arguments is not totally convincing one way or another - certainly not at the p<0.05 confidence level we typically use.
statistical hypothesis testing has absolutely no place in the area of subjective opinion, especially if you dont say what the null hypothesis is. by the way a significance level of 0.05 is very lenient...
Theres a lot of microsoft hate going around the internet...but how many people on slashdot actually used wondows 8 on a tablet?
I was in a mall (shopping centre where im from) today where they had a windows stand, and I used a surface for the first time, and I thought this is pretty cool as a tablet version of windows 7, with an alternate user interface that works really well for simple consumption. I really dont care for the comments about how metro is this and how metro is that, how many years did it take all the critics to become familiar with a computer? and do you really think they designed metro for content creation? for a lot of enthusiasts it may not be good but it will get better. Like it or not microsoft still dominates desktop computers (be it personal or corporate usage) so they will still be around, despite the fucked up versions of excel they release (some new array functions are nice though)
beg borrow or steal, microsoft will get it right eventually, who gives a shit if they get it wrong after? no one is forcing you to upgrade to the newest version. Ill keep my copy of windows 7 on my desktop but Ill definitely be getting a surface (pro) as a tablet PC once I have the money to spare.
shill it up your ass
it will be necessary for probably 50-100 years before we can fully finish converting to entirely renewable sources.
50-100 years? im sorry but thats a pretty big assumption there. Because of conservatism that comes hand in hand with power, the use of fossil fuels will be perpetuated for as long as possible. even if and when man has the capability of converting entirely to renewables, there should still be non-renewable sources kept as backup for unforseen situations.
The *only* way nuclear is 'good' is that its less bad than coal in terms of greenhouse gases. No more.
no more? just because it isnt as advanced right now as we'd like it to be doesn't mean its isnt bad. accidents and lazy/stupid/cheapskate governments/private companies give nuclear a bad name. i would much prefer to live beside a nuclear power station than a power station running on fossil fuels.
"most recent blarney competition"
Sorry i dont have a vertical bar to the left of the first letter but i dont know how to comment, too busy kissing stones.
you might be smart, but the passive insults suggest your a fuckin loser
I agree that maxis should haven given the option for 100% solo play by making a local simulation for the global economy.
But if each running copy of simcity is connected to their servers then the upcoming simcity will be the only game with an ACTUAL supply and demand dimension, and not a naive and retarded RCI (residential commercial and industrial) demand indicator.
I consider myself a big fan of the simcity games, but the new one is the only game that has me excited as there is a possibility that I will play the game for longer than building a just a few cities to see what features are new and then get bored of it and stop playing.
along with an actual S & D dimension, im hoping they fixed the traffic simulation problem they had in simcity 4, cus it was annoying having to install mods to fix it, and then tweak it to ensure the mod scaled to the city you were building
The market is a lot bigger; The piracy rate is higher, but so is the purchase rate, so it evens out. But consoles are a small market -- almost everyone owns a computer. Not nearly as many own consoles. If the piracy rate on a console was the same as the PC, the market would collapse; it would be very difficult for all but the most successful titles to get a return on investment.
care to quote any actual evidence or will we just consider all of our "expert" opinions to be evidence going forward?
Programming uses math? Well some arithmetic, surely, but usually not much else.
huh?
do you even realise what math becomes when it is combined with computers? cryptography (math) is the basis of information security, robotics, which is part math, science and engineering (the latter two are dependant on math) will largely automate the above processes you mentioned up there in time. computer games? just because math may be seen as mere arithmetic to some (no offense but if i modded you post you would not be getting a 4?) doesnt mean it should be regarded as some digital bean counter.
teaching programming at an early age will force kids to be analytical in ways that is not practically possible with other technical subjects, and hence at least complementing ones analytical ability in other technical areas. if this gets implemented by enough education systems i think there will be be a massive benefit to innovation in years to come.
think of it another way, if woodwork, metalwork and technical drawing (as well as other hands-on practical subjects) are taught in schools, why not programming? it wont mean that everyone will become a programmer, students could quicker grasp statistical programming languages like SAS and SPSS (along with countless others) which aid all types of science and engineering, not to mention business (the latter being a good or a bad thing, up to you)
it will also get us to the technological singularity quicker...

made the app store....rotten to the core! LOL
cannibalization; it will increase the sales of their other os offerings. I wish there would let someone else release a tablet with windows 8.
tieping sckills!

... NOT being distracted by Facebook and Twitter. Good thing those and the whole internet were not around back then.
Distractions have existed long before facebook, twitter and the internet, like videogames

The pedal orientation is not switched in RHD cars.
Also, most of Europe is LHD, only the UK is RHD.
ireland is also RHD, mr informative

next question? your solution seems oversimplified. good luck answering the next world problem!
