    Not true. Ayn Rand-types won't necessarily pay zero for this.

    Actually nobody will pay zero for this, I tried, they don't accept it. You get a picture of a developer begging for change and it sends you back to correct your amount.

    Dunno what the lowest allowed is.

    I know it's just an imaginary example of how bad text-to-speech is... but it is realistic and disappointing.

    Even an idiot like me knows what Markov chain is. Perhaps the standard voice apps are so entrenched they're not recoding their apps to take advantage of huge leaps in memory capacity compared to when they first started selling.

    Let me ask you this, with a greater sharing of information and accuracy in detecting quakes how would we notice a genuine increase?

    You see the quake question needs to be examined without the specter of religious interpretation hovering over it. With induced seismicity and several well known man-made quakes caused by buildings, dams, oil wells, etc... it is indeed a fact that there's more quakes in certain areas because of our own doing.

    To simply say 'There's no increase' just to shut up the religious out there is harmful.

    Alright man, I'd mod you up but I've posted obviously. Won't post anything on that til I find a better reference for flash compatibility. Do you have a cite for the full AS 1/2 compatibility?

    Something that's often missed is that "Flash" is a set of various versions and video formats. As I understand it, mobile Flash 10.1 will not support Actionscript 1.0 and 2.0, only giving you Actionscript 3.0. How many websites and games were made in the older format and continue to be?

    Not only that... this is weird but according to this chart it won't support H.264 but instead have On2 video format. That would be the guys that Google just bought. Perhaps this is another part of why they're supporting flash.

    It's really wonderful that they've found evidence of the Finder added to the 4G iPhone OS. Strange that Steve didn't announce it as a feature of iPhone OS 4.0.

    the multitasking lets me run certain background applications that would never be accepted by Apple (they are our remote management tools.)

    I'm pretty sure you could set up an enterprise developer account and do an internal app distribution. Not saying you want to but it is possible.

    Don't forget 3rd world countries where there may be a lack of actual maps in existence. OpenStreetMaps lets the locals take care of themselves and accomplish what their government and corporations either can't or won't do.

    Just wait til OSM gets big enough to start costing google serious marketshare, then google will start sending copyright violation claims bankrupting the project while they constantly have to fight to prove their edits were homemade.

    Okay it's lame to reply to myself, but I don't want to detract from the very real work and effort that has gone into making actual 3D maps for the blind.

    There's a lot of mapping information that can help the blind such as where audio enhanced intersections exist, which roads the sidewalks can be felt, there's even 3D maps printed out with the street names converted to braille so 3D maps really are awesome for blind people.

    That whole "wolves in sheeps clothing" stuff is talking about religious leaders and those who use religion to accomplish their objectives, whether wealth, power, fame, etc...

    And those who follow them: 2 Tim 4:3,4

    3 For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up to themselves teachers tickling the ear; 4 and they will turn away the ear from the truth and will be turned aside to myths.

    If we can discuss what the Koran teaches and judge between "real Muslims" and "nominal Muslims" then we can do the same about Christians.

    Does the surveillance software have the ability to take images without turning on the webcam LED? I mean we always assume those are hardware activated and can't be bypassed, I mean only an IDIOT would leave the LEDs controlled by the driver... right?

    Also, if indeed there are laptops out there with software controlled LEDs, is anyone keeping a list of the spy-happy laptops out there?

    Of course, if push came to shove, I'd bank on Google winning. Dumbass ISP X says "Ok, we are throttling Google traffic and/or blocking Youtube." Google says "Ok, we are blacklisting all your IPs and showing your users a page that explains what dicks you are and what you need to change for us to restore access." My bet? Consumers get furious at their ISP and either force a change, or simply switch to a new one.

    And then the ISP goes "Ok, we are blacklisting all your IPs and forwarding all users to bing. They won't even see your page."
