    You say that as if MS-DOS wasn't able to output graphics at all. It's not like ATMs need complex GUI widgets, they only show text. All graphics could be stored bitmaps, the same way some games work and the result could be better than regular OS widgets too.

    You could run an ATM with a freakin' Raspberry Pi, it would cost less than the license for Windows alone. Once you account for the hardware needed for Windows, it's just insane to go with Microsoft.

    But I suppose banks don't care about losing money, the government will always back them up. Even if it's the banks who are screwing everybody including the government.

    Adobe CS2 had ImageReady, a proper tool designed for Web optimization. Adobe CS3 tried to add the ImageReady tools to Photoshop in a half-assed way where you can only do actual work once you're already in the "export" mode where you lose 95% of the Photoshop power and need to go back-and-forth between regular mode and export mode.

    They screwed up bad.

    To put things in perspective for the new-ish Slashdot readers who aren't nerds at all, this means 1200 bit per second, 150 bytes per second or 0.146484375 KiB per second or roughly 870 times smaller than a typical 128kbps MP3/AAC file.

    How about the Intel Pentium G3220? It's Haswell, socket 1150, low power and nearly half the price of the i3.

    Most people use Windows for one of those two things: gaming or business.

    Make the following:
    - Windows 2015: Gaming Edition, optimized for games, no useless services running in the background, only the bare utilities to help setup/add hardware easily.
    - Windows 2015: Business Edition, optimized for business applications with strong support for emails, calendars, networking, etc.
