    Are you trying to fight Medusa? Walking around a battlefield while looking at a mirror is going to get you killed in soo many other ways.

    When was the last time you heard about someone buying a counterfeit shirt, putting it on, then dying from it, or killing someone else?

    Betcha people would stop buying them. Too bad they aren't any different than the legit ones.

    You're still purchasing a product from the manufacturer. Not the same as an illegal download.
    Potential copyright infringement, but that's more on the manufacturer. I want a #12 Jersey, and I might pay 50 bucks for it, regardless of where it comes from, but like you, I'm not shelling out 250+ for a shirt I wear once a week and do no work in.

    Some people have done soo many bad things that they can't get a pay for banking account.

    The alternative to that is they don't want their money laying about where certain govt. agencies can remove it and deposit it elsewhere, such as the ex-wife's bank account.

    Exactly. It's the first 1000 hours that are the most dangerous.

    At 27, and pretty nervous, my first 1000 miles on my motorcycle were pretty tenuous. By that time I had 50-70k miles driving experience, but new is new.

    they don't have to. But they should also realise the price of that is it should not be used in any sort of internet connected way when no more security patches are coming.

    Given all the patches, you'd think after 10 years they might have fixed the [important] leaks.

    How many pieces of hardware on your current XP machine are older than 12 years?

    The case and the IDE cable. Everything else has been upgraded along the way. I have 8 gigs of memory, only have access to 3 gigs and I am fine with that because I understand the limitations of the operating system.

    I'll get around to upgrading to Windows 7 soonish as I'm not touching 8/8.1.

    Why are the network lines between a grocery store and their main office unencrypted, even though it's used to transmit credit card data? (I'm looking at you small northwest grocery store chain which caused me to get a new credit card the day before Thanksgiving)

    Because it's cheaper, and cheaper is always better than secure in the eyes of a a cost cutting/saving leader.

    There are theatre ads and then there are movie ads. I show up a couple minute before the scheduled start time so that I don't have to deal with the theatre ads, but I actually like the previews of what is coming out. I don't have cable, and don't watch OTA stuff, so it's the only exposure I get to new movies.

    Of course the downside of not watching cable or network TV is that you really appreciate how horrible advertising is. Easily the most painful part of going out to a movie.

    Just be glad they get it all out of the way at the beginning.

    But I'm a rockstar when it comes to the trilogy server, which is way better than the sequel as we all know.

    And it wouldn't wash with them if you just put down "Must be able to think logically, and learn new stuff quickly", which as far as I know are the only real requirements for programming jobs.

    The "To hire specific people" may be spot on. Sometimes an employer will write a job posting as a way of promoting an internal employee, though they have to post it as an open req for staff, so it doesn't look like favoritism(sp?).
