I tried creating a family that matched my own, and building a house that looked like mine. That wasn't any fun (particularly since my Sim-family could only afford to build the basement at first). Since then I've been playing with random families, which is a lot more fun.
I don't know why other people like it. I like it because computer processes that do stupid, self-destructive things in contravention of my direct instructions are a familiar concept from my job as a Windows programmer.
I have at least got to the point with the Sims that I don't stay up all night making sure my Sims go to bed on time.
Your right, of course. I was just trying to make the point that even if you had a computer that ran a Linux kernel without the GNU tools (a rarity), you would still not be GNU-free, while having an X-free (as opposed to XFree!) computer is quote easy. Hence disproving the X/GNU/Linux argument.
I run a couple of [GNU/]Linux boxes at home that don't have XFree86, or any X at all. There may or may not exist computers out there that are running the Linux kernel but no GNU tools. I wonder what they compiled the kernel with?
Why do people buy it? Particularly at those prices?
Disclaimer: my wife and I spent $120 on dinner before going to see AotC, so popcorn would have been a little excessive. But the Copper River King Salmon was excellent.
How much money does Internet Explorer make? That seems to have been around for a while, despite costing millions in development and generating zero revenue.
But when one of his colleagues proposes son-of-son-of-son-of COPA, hopefully Rep. Bass will remember that his constituents don't want a law, and he will vote against it.
I don't have much faith that that will happen, though.
I saw Wawa and thought of Wawa Ontario, a tiny town just off the highway thay goes around the north side of Lake Superior. IIRC, population is ~4000. The supermarket carries 4 kinds of garlic margarine. You don't forget a town like that.
I assume this is supposed to evoke "Cuba Libre" and imply freedom-as-in-speech. However, my second language is O-level French, and "libre" to me is every bit as ambiguous as "free", with perhaps a bit more bias towards the free-as-in-beer meaning.
Up to a point, Lord Copper.

Directed by George Lucas, it stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen.
You don't say. I bet no-one here knew that.
I'm sure for people who don't want children (and like games), a game is infinitely better than a smile from a kid.
That attitude should get weeded out of the gene pool really fast.
Doesn't seem to be much information there. Of course, since the first team on the list is the Houston Energy, perhaps they have gone the way of Enron?
According to IMDb, Chewie hasn't worked in films since RotJ.
Indeed. Also s/Microsoft/USA/ and the same would be true.
Yeah, what ever happened to that Harrison Ford guy, anyway?
If you look at it that way, MS dropped UTV too soon. They should have held in there until the MPAA et al sued Replay and Tivo into oblivion.

Probably when there's something on the site other than vapour.
Who is the victim of the meth lab?

a) All British coffee is crap
I was going to say more, but I think that it would detract from the point.
Disclaimer: I'm English, but I live in the US.
Verisign

I thought Richfield seemed smaller than usual. (I live in Bloomington)
John Ashcroft says you're wrong.

In short, it doesn't help. Sorry.
and well spotted. You are truly a rare find on /.
Like Steve "Monkey-Boy" Ballmer?
I wonder what the Greek is for "Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers!"?
Skipping commercials is theft.
Copying one of your CDs to keep in your car is theft.
Extracting the text from an ebook and feeding it through a text-to-speech converter is theft.
But when you're a multi-billion dollar company and you keep using software after your licence has been revoked, that's not theft.
It's all so clear now!
