  1. The New York times has had to retract far more stories than Fox News. NYT has been shown to be incredibly biased and like many other liberal news sources, has manufactured news. Again, you are living in your bubble, which is sad. You just ignore these truths because those other things support a narrative that you have never questioned nor investigated. You are the very definition of ignorant.

An intelligent person, unlike yourself, would read from many perspectives and always be challenging their assumptions. Each ideology has limits. Someday, you might grow up enough to understand this.

  2. It takes a certain level of stupid to still think the ACA is not the most misleadingly named law in existence. Sadly, not only does the above poster exist in a world so devoid of facts and personal observation that he doesn't understand this, but someone else of equally limited analytical ability modded him up. Since like most posts supporting liberal ideology on these forums, it contained emotion, pejoratives, and NO LINKS BACKING UP THE ARGUMENTS, I will provide some.

    1. Then President Obama told the people that his plan would save them on average $2500 and allow them to keep the same level of care. In fact, they new this to be a lie, as was admitted at a fund raiser where the speaker basically is laughing at how stupid people like you are. Personally, that would bother me, but you may like it when your leaders lie and ridicule you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

    2. The cost of medical insurance has more than doubled since AFC was enacted. In 2013, families typically paid $2784. Now, they pay $5712. http://www.breitbart.com/big-g...

3.This year is going to be even more devastating. Here is a link from the liberally biased Politico so you don't think it is just "evil" conservatives making things up:

    4. At no point does Trump say that he wants to remove ACA taxes from the rich. This is simply a deluded fantasy on your part, or something that you read from a basement blogger with this fantasy. In fact, he wants to try to keep many protections for the poor and infirm. I know honesty is hard for you, but try to read first. http://thehill.com/policy/heal...

BTW, yes, I am being harsh and yes I am annoyed. I am sick of slander being modded up in these forums. Lets keep the debates honest and not make shit up. Lets have more reason and less emotion. Or, are you simply scared that if you are honest and analyze facts, you may have to change your world view?

The hard truth is that in the U.S the major political parties have merged into a super party that you can call demublicans. They go to same parties, think the same things, and make the same policies. This is why you seldom see much real change with shifting governments. For example, Republicans claimed to want to repeal Obamacare when they didn't have the presidency, but when it is a real option, many forgot their zeal. The reason is that most, including the leaders are demublicans. They all secretly agreed on the policy, and were going to do it, despite what people actually thought.

The sad thing is, they deumblicans divide us by giving each side a colored jersey, and encourage blind loyalty. My God, just look at these forums, It is common to decry Fox News or any conservative source of ideas, but if your team suddenly adopts an idea, well it is just peachy. It just matters that your team said it, not the truth of the matter. Don't believe it? Look at this thread! For years conservatives tried to explain that numbers are rigged to make it look better than the disaster that it is. Now that your team is out of office, you suddenly understand the numbers are being fiddled with because you can blame it on the other guy.

Don't you see it doesn't matter which color jersey wins, we lose?

Do you not understand that the real email server story is that the democrat party colluded to crush the campaign of Bernie Sanders and to suppress popular will? You think your color jersey is good and innocent? Please, wake up.

If we are going to get anywhere and save ourselves, we have to take off our jerseys and form a new team. One where we try to honestly asses the world and look for real solutions. Otherwise, the above posters nightmare will soon be true.

  4. The better question should be: How can you be so stupid to only exist in a tiny bubble filled with people who only agree with you and never seriously examine any argument that challenges your world view?

  8. I am always surprised that many people on these forums do not understand that their ideology has become a religion. Religions are based on articles of faith and can't be questioned. To do so is commit heresy, which is a high crime. Unfortunately, this is exactly what is going on in this entire thread. People are angry. They are defensive. They can not accept the simple truth that solar panels do cause pollution in there creation and degradation.

As a scientist, a teach that science, when practiced well, is dispassionate. The data is not good. It is not bad. It is not a moral question. If you are feeling strongly about the data, then you are probably warping the analysis. Scientists weigh the facts and come to conclusions based on those facts. A scientist should actually be happy when errors are found, because this means that their hypothesis can be improved and the world can be explained a little better. This is not what is happening here. Because for many topics on these forums, people have forgotten these principals. They so want certain outcomes to be true, that they go to great lengths to discount any questions or questioners, or even any notion that challenges assumptions. This takes things from the realm of science to the realm of faith.

A simple test. If someone challenges an idea, and you find yourself angry, then that is a matter of faith for you.

If you think that this challenge is interesting, and then you examine to see how it can improve your understanding, then you are still in the realm of science.

It is painful when articles of faith are challenged. For many people, they can't handle the thought their beliefs may be flawed. Because if the faith is flawed, then their entire world view may be based on a house of lies. Few have the courage to examine their faith. The above postings show this.

For example, this is a forum filled with people from various tech fields. Most are aware of how semi-conductors are made. The processes involved in CVD and other such processes are not what anyone would call environmentally benign, no matter how much Timmy Cook tries to sugar coat this. We tend to ignore this, because lets face it, tech is cool. Similarly, I know that some icky stuff happens at the butcher, but I choose to ignore it because I like steak. But no matter how much I like steak, it never, ever means that the terrible things at the butcher didn't happen. Same with micro-electronics.

If you can take a step back and be intellectually honest, you understand that all these electronic doodads made with heavy metals and other interesting materials are not terribly good land fill material either. So, its really not a stretch to think that all those un-upgradable imacs, your smart phone that you replace every year, and yes, even those solar panels are not degrading in a green way.

We can all agree that this study may have some holes in it. It may be wrong on some of the specifics. Maybe comparing it to nuclear waste was for shock value. The amounts reported to create environmental damage may contain some hyperbole. Sure. But, the bald truth is these things ARE toxic. As you mass produce them, this problem will only grow. It is an interesting question to ask questions about the environmental impact of solar, instead of merely assuming it is non-polluting. If this is done right, then we can compare it to other energy sources, such as wind, nuclear and even fossil fuels and see what is less damaging in the true sense..

Now, if you can overcome your faith and except this, you are finally at a point where an honest discussion can be had. One where we look at each solution attempt to weigh the pro's and cons. In doing so, solutions can be found. This is was the Enlightenment was about at its core, and by extension modern civilization. We seem to be getting away from this. That is not good.

As it turns out, google favors companies that sell chairs and pay for google advertising. They may not be the most famous company, the best reviewed company, etc. but they will get top billing.

When confronted with a long list, human nature is such that you choose something near the top. We are all lazy and who wants to read that much unnecessary stuff. This makes primacy pretty powerful in a search list. That said, technically google will display non-advertising vendors too, just further down the page or on the dreaded page two.

Keep in mind google also does this for most things, including news services or political discussions that it favors, to shape public opinion. How you are mass manipulated without your awareness is a deep and profound discussion, but that should be saved for another day. Walk before you run grasshopper.

Getting back to the point, google also shapes your searches by 'reading' your gmail and creating profiles about stuff that you have searched. Sadly, by this point, google knows more about you than many of your friends. It will place advertisements on web pages related to what it knows about you. It will also order your search hits based upon what it knows about you.

A little investigation yields that there are elements of hyperbole and FUD in the article and the issue general. At the simplest level, it seems easy to feed into the wrong-headed narrative that Trump and conservatives are anti-liberty, even thought the opposite is generally true. A deeper look into the issue has more nuance. Almost as if people are not cartoon villains and have different perspectives in looking out for the greater well being. Almost.

The counter argument is that the Obama era bill only provided protections against what ISP companies can do with your data. In limiting the scope, it actually opened the door for other companies like say M.S., Apple, or Alphabet to be a little more nefarious in their data collection rules. The current rules in house GLB Act and the existing FCC standards on the book already provided larger scale protections than the new rules, so replacing them is actually harmful to consumer.

Now, I am not a lawyer, and I will admit to not being the 'net expert of many of the readers of these forums. If the existing rules do not go far enough I am happy to hear an honest non-partisan name calling discussion about why. I am also curious to see if the new California bill actually improves things, or if it is well meaning but damaging?

This means that they can group together and say, we are the most advanced, civilized part of the EU, unlike those backwards people from Frostover Country, and we should allocate most of the resources to central core. In fact, any ideals and values of those Frostover people, like Finland, are really silly and we should simply remove them. This is ok, because the people of France, England, Germany and Italy say so. They have more people after all.

If you are being honest, you will admit that as a proud member of Finland, you are not quite ready to abrogate all sense of history and identity. You like total population rule because 1. Time Cook pretends to be green. Yet, he ignores the environmental disaster that is the company that he runs. Making semiconductors is toxic. I am sorry if you never thought about. The chemicals used in masking etc are not anywhere near ecco-friendly. Putting up some solar panels but doing your manufacturing in China so you can ignore environmental regulations and pollute the shit of things for cheap, does not make you green. (read Jobs' book, its in there).

While we are on the topic, Tim Cook made decisions that caused the Mac to be non-upgradable. So, even if you can accept the green cost of making a computer, then a responsible person would want to get all the life out of it that they could. This would be environmentally responsible, right? Apple does the opposite.

Is the U.S. made weaker by asking NATO members to actually contribute to their defense at a proportion to the GDP as ours? In all honesty, he had drawn many of the same concussions about the system being corrupt as Mr. Trump, but offered different solutions. The press knowingly helped burry the story of the unfair primary election.

The Russian hackers helped bring to light these issues. Through them, we learned that the Sanders supporters were denied a legitimate shot. The Russians did not report anything that was untrue. Do you understand that? The Russians were the force of truth and light in this election. For that, we in the U.S. should be ashamed.

In this thread and others like it today, people are acting like the Russians made up horribly untruths and it cost Hillary the election. For some reason of nothing less than extreme stupidity, there are posters who conveniently seem to forget what the so called fake news was, and why it worked. Hillary attempted to fix the fucking election, and thankfully, despite a biased media, she got caught. The people who got cheated were angry, and did not vote. Its that simple.
