Weird, I looked it up a couple of months ago and found a similar table listing that it had Intel virtualization technology. Must have misread it, thanks for the info.
Anybody knows if this can be used to enable VT-x on a cpu that the BIOS has disabled it on? I have HP machine with a Intel Core2 Duo E4400 and the BIOS does not have a switch to enable it for some reason.
I have been looking at IPv6 every now and then since 1999, to keep up and be prepared for when I actually need it. I even looked into migrating my home-network to IPv6 just to see how it worked. Never did though. Almost every computer today has IPv6 installed and activated, but never used.
Who uses it? Does anybody know a network where it is used? There's a lot of talk about China, but the servers I have configured there used IPv4 only.
And if address space is the main driving factor, why not just expand that part of IPv4 and be done with it?
> Then again, I'm sure the Sweedish air force might have a few F-16s or C-130s; but how many American jets, planes, tanks, and boats have Swedish software running them?
Sweden has its own military aircraft manufacturer in SAAB Aerospace (SAAB actually stands for Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget, freely translated Swedish Aerospace Inc).
The newest aircraft is the hightech Gripen, which btw rumour has it runs an VisualBasic-app to control the steering... SAAB Aerospace Gripen
But I agree with your point, it really seems odd that the military doesn't love the control they can have over the sourcecode in opensource-OSes.
Well... True but still untrue... You can run either Office(CodeWeavers wine) OR games (TransGamings wine). I am sure there is a way to have both installed at the same time, but I wouldn't ask my mother to do that.
Then please explain to me why violin-music really sounds like crap on CD, and not (as much) on SACD. Sure, a well-mastered CD can sound really good, and in most cases it will be enough, especially in the case of pop-music where you dont need the extra detail and dynamics. But there IS much music that simply dont work well on CD. I listened to some of Kraftwerks early works on a (really crappy) vinyl, and was amazed by all the extra detail in the higher regions that was gone in the CD-version!
Think about it, CDs are sampled at 44100 times per second. If you have a sinus at 22050Hz, how many samples will be used to represent each wave? Two. Ideally the highest and the lowest point in the wave. But when you play that sinus back, it is not a sinus any longer, it is a triangular-wave.
That is atleast my theory as to why CDs sound so sharp in the higher frequency-regions...
There is a difference, and even if you cant spot it right away you will notice that your ears dont get as strained after extended listening. The world needs a better format than CDs and I think this is a good way to move the industry forward.
Actually, I really like the all new MS Wheel(tm) XP that just was released. It's not quite round yet (it will be in the next release though) but has really nice features that I rely heavily on (such as shared air between all tires of all your cars). And the upgrade from the last version is not very expensive! (you really should upgrade since all the bad things people said about the last release are true, even though I've spent the last months saying it's not).
When does the standards committee meet? Is there a draft standard out yet?
Oh, and those are proposed standards that are going to be locked down and complied with, correct? No code forking permitted? Who's the compliance officer on the XML project?
The Citrix client does not work with Microsoft terminal server, the terminal server uses the RDP protocol while Citrix use their own ICA protocol.
Microsoft bought version 4 of Citrix WinFrame and integrated it into NT4, thus creating NT TerminalServer. Citrix however sells an add on product to TerminalServer called MetaFrame that has support for the ICA protocol (and therefore adds support for more clients).
So to get the thin-client solution you have to buy Win2000 and Citrix MetaFrame. Unfortunately MetaFrame is the more expensive license.
That data is the property of your employer and may not leave the premises!

Luxury! We used to dream about concrete floors!
That's not true! I had a guest once.
Turned out she used vi so she didn't stay very long.

Hehe... This was funny! I wish I had moderator points so I could mod it up.
Wait! I have moderator points!
Ooh, why did I have to post...
Who are you calling a moron ;-)
It's those rootbeers you're talking about, rigth?

Is that a penguin in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
(sorry, couldn't resist this awful joke.)
Great!
Finally they can release the uncut version of '2001: A space Odyssey'

Oh, wait...
Disregard.
True, but then he also should count the time spent on telling everybody how much cheaper this solution is. ;-)
You're an idiot, there are really good reasons why this won't happen.
I won't give any links but I have seem several posts that are very informative.
