  1. Freedom to work where you want on Motorola sues Intel · · Score: 1
I do agree on your "title" but strongly disagree when you say motorola's Processor are lame.
they aren't whats make them look lame is what geos with hem (ie Mac Machines, with crappy macos and crappy-buggy Intel chipsets on the MB). Other bad thing for the Power PC has a general use chip is that it is too strongly thight to IBM and Apple (remmember the wars Apple/ibm in the 80's). The chip itself IS great .....

Have you ever tried to do asm on an Intel Chip and on a Motorola one ? intel sux , you are restricted on the use of the registers, their number is limited.

The future of the mainstream PC is tied to the x86 architecture which imho has reached is limits. And changing to IA 64 is going to be painfull so Intel seeks people with experience in that Field Mot's employees. ALso ALtivec to be released with the G4's chip rocks a lot more than MMX or Katmai so Intel wants to get that technology to say Hey look what we've done .....

(Hp machines are great I mean both HPPA and Intel powered, I hope the hardware will continue to stay that cool). Now if HP ux could become more SMP friendly this really would be great (I think the OS is mostly responsible for SMP features, not Applications).

The closing Gap is a nice Idea but is only worth when the country has computers. So Globally what is says is true for "middle" developed country, but for "real" third world countries It's false.

One other good thing about this article is : not a word is said about KDE : no flames wars !! Even though I consider Plurality a needed value for Open software. KDE vs GNOME wars is for me the same kind of techy battle that pushes the products higher and let the Final users (you and Me) choose.

I hope this will Help the compiler In a General manner and that other architectures will also get boost from this work ( but I doubt :-( ).

Now I would like To see Motorola doe the Same so that LinuxPPC would get faster (and so would all the BeOS gcc stuffs).

Arm could help too. As should all Risc vendors. Remember one off the concept of the Risc architecture is : let the compiler do the work, not the processor -- (Since P's are suppose to be CISCs I think other architectures would get Better boost on that kind of work then the x86 arch).

there only one two other PPC builders : IBM (why wuold they ask be ?? they didn't finish the OS/2 port) and an IBM clone maker selling Linux or AIX (you choose).

My Web page is hosted by a free web space provider.

It started has a student project and bandwith was supplied by the Uni - then the Uni said no more so it went with a commercila provider with a large announce .

Then Sun gave a machine and users gave disk and other hardware to support the site. It was not enough so the guy running the machine (which give free space for 30000 users) had a great idea.If you wanted stats for your web then you had to add a cgi script that would show a ad banner

    So you should :

    1. Try to find free bandwith for the beginning
    2. Then find advertisers
    3. To get monthly revenues build up a barnes and nobles or amazon library (then the only thing you'll need is traffic )
