You say it's sad when a flamewar erupts that you PURPOSELY incite? That's basically like taking a swing at someone then saying if they do the same to you, something's wrong with them. But your comment does prove that no matter what the topic, someone will bring up KDE or gnome and think that everyone else cares about it.
I'm NOT sorry to say that the KDE era is not even close to over. As long as there are people who support it (and there DEFINITELY are) KDE will continue to be the best. A 1.0 release of guh-noom doesn't automatically make it great.
GTK/Mozilla --- why do we *want* Opera!?

Maybe you don't want it, but I sure do. I would love to have a browser that isn't gtk based, and now I will have even more options. If you want to use Mozilla/gtk, that's fine; not all of us do.
and wouldn't we have to PAY for Opera?

Hello! No matter WHAT toolkit they use we'd have to pay for Opera! It's not a free browser. I'm GLAD they're using Qt. End users don't have to pay for software written in Qt unless the developer WANTS us to pay.
You should also say "Death to Opera" if you say "Death to Qt", because Opera is just as "anti GNU" as Qt is (and that is perfectly fine to me).
Wait, Corel is helping Wine so they can port CLOSED SOURCE applications! Oh horrors! How can Corel be OK but KDE not, when KDE actually INCLUDES SOURCE and Corel's products don't? Stop posting this hypocrital crap.
I've installed proprietary software and I'm not sorry at all. It's very nice to have a good word processor (WP, Applix or SO). I don't see why I should be sorry adding functionality to my system. I don't know how I would have gotten along without Netscape, either.
Too bad that I still have problems with 2.2.2 and sound. The Ultrasound project won't compile on 2.2 and OSS sounds VERY staticky on one channel.. Would anyone by any chance know why OSS would be staticky in one channel but the Ultrasound project sounds fine in both?
It would be nice if Troll would GPL Qt, but they cannot. It is how they make money. They are being very generous by changing their license to make it conform to open source, and I thank them for it.
If those ugly sites start looking decent, I will be very happy.. The question marks make me stop reading when it's more than a page, because it's such a pain to interpret what they should be.
This is going too far. These idiots have a right to their opinion, but to basically suggest people they don't like get KILLED, that's just plain wrong. I mean, how would they feel if I put up a site with all religious people's names, and said they should be killed, just because I don't agree with religion? But I wouldn't do that, because I realize (unlike these people) that everyone is entitled to his own opinion. These people just make me sick.
The instant I finish upgrading to KDE 1.1pre2, kernel 2.2 comes out! And boy, that Magic SysReq looks like it will save me from asking my roommate if I can borrow his computer to telnet in and kill X..:) What a glorious day...
Criticism is definitely a good thing, if it's done in a mature manner. I imagine Scoop got such intelligent mails as "you stupid fucker, i dont no what your thinking changing freshmeat. the old wone was l337 kewl krad and this one sux0rs." That's not exactly what I'd call constructive criticism.

If it ever gets created, they might support it.

Of course, you'll need something a bit faster than PCI to keep up with that.. :)
I seem to be the only one who can't stand the NeXT look, but I'm glad that there is that choice.. Now watch out for KDE v gnome v GNUStep.. :)
Um, once gnome actually is advanced enough, isn't that what redhat is going to to?
They're doing no harm at all. You're not forced to use it, are you? No, I didn't think so.
Seeing how Qt looks like Motif and Lesstif looks like Motif ... Hm...

But there really is no job. So they can't do it at all, right or wrong. It's a hobby. And that can be done however one wants.
