  1. Everyone knows the best way to hack modern computing systems is with MS DOS and a 56k modem.

  2. I find the brilliance of our scientific community on Diamonds in Sudan Meteorite 'Are Remnants of Lost Planet' (theguardian.com) · · Score: 1

I find the brilliance of our scientific community astounding, their ability to form the opinion that the planet these rocks originated from was in our solar system is an astounding break through in science, considering how large space is and how many other places these may have come from, to narrow it down to our solar system is truly amazing.

  3. And in other news the FBI has walked free for the illegal confiscation of electronic equipment belonging to megaupload, what Business does the NSA and New Zealands GCSB have investigating copyright fraud - none, the reason these agencies were involved and the reason there was such a heavy handed approach to the investigation, and the reason the equipment was confiscated is because there was some sort of politically damaging material on there, of a very sensitive nature, so sensitive that they simply couldn't ask Kim to take it down, because then he would know what it was. A corrupt Bureaucracy covering up its trail.

I am certain the reason they are testing here in New Zealand is the complete lack of regulatory control around drones. The very same reason that the Chinese launch low orbit rockets from here. So what may work here probably wouldn't fly in other countries.

  6. As I've said all along this a fishing trip, an opportunity for the Republicans to try and put the squeeze on the gaming industry, we know the the NRA and gun manufacturers make significant contributions to political funds, Trump and the lads will be looking for similar financial contributions from the gaming industry. Obviously there is no real intent to change anything, just a few politicians who don't feel they are benefiting personally from the success of the gaming industry. Perhaps offering them a cut of all loot box sales will be enough for the whole thing to blow over.

  7. Just for the Americans on Microsoft To Offer Governments Local Version of Azure Cloud Service (reuters.com) · · Score: 1

Just for the Americans, there are something like 180 Countries out there, must Governments will not deploy any services in a cloud, as the cloud services are hosted off shore and that Nation will lose sovereignty of its data and any ability to exert legislative control, or any control over access, service security, continuity etc . This initiative will allow Governments which do not have access to cloud services the opportunity to form cloud based services in their sovereign territories. How does Government IT work in those countries, pretty much the same as every where if you can't buy it from one of the major IT companies MS, Oracle IBM etc, its probably not the solution for them.

Ah the old arsehole lanes, cyclists can't use them because there's always some arsehole driving their car, parking their car, opening their car door or otherwise making it unsafe to cycle in anyway.

Another sad day for democracy, if you can call it that, a political system which is bought and paid for is hardly democratic.

This is standard political tactic, to release some alternate news story to divert everyones attention away from the real story - *the real story is still NSA spying* on whom every they please. And arresting (and probably not charging with any actual crimes) anybody who speaks out about it.

  16. Re:Why not? on FBI Admits To Domestic Surveillance Drone Use · · Score: 1

As I understand it the FBI's role is primarily to protect American interests, does anybody else find it interesting that FBI director Robert Mueller is not forth coming with information and its seems that even the most basic information needs to be dragged out of him - like pulling teeth. Surely if everything is above board the FBI are indeed serving the interests of all Americans then this guy should be a little more open and informative about their activities. The question is Robert Mueller - what are you trying to hide.
