ever heard any of those stories about NASA's "suicide" pills... Christian Fundamentalists (who are numerous in the Repblican party, but aren't the whole party) probably disagree with that too... but seriously, there has got to be a better way, how many abourtions would they have to have on this mission? Seriously, just send women who are for some reason unable to become pregnant. be it a birth defect or surgury they had, doesn't matter. Then as long as noone has any STDs....
Would the persident of the US ride in a Japanese car? No. Would the US military start giving all of its defence contracts to Russian companies? So why would any other US agency/department use software made by a CANADIAN company??? It doesn't make sense. unless there is no, i repeat, no American company to make something that the US GOV'T needs, they will always buy American. And why not?
Andover is public now (just this week i think) it wasn't a rocket like VA though. Check it out
Its at 67 1/2 right now, down from 83 5/8 Market Cap is about a billion. The question is... How many shares did Rob get? I would assume that everyone involved made enough tho.
There is nothing wrong with capitalism. So far its seemed to work for America. And so what if corporations are being founded to make money off of Linux. ITS STILL OPEN SOURCE!!! Which means no matter what they do, you benefit as the user.
How is making money not exacly what Linux is about. FREEDOM! the freedom to do what you want! Including making a profit... and other people profit too! The commercialization of Linux can only be beneficial to the community.
Not much longer and we will be back to a single overall owner,
So what if all the baby bells merge together??? There are other companies out there competing in both the Local and LD markets... MCI has a local telephone service now. Sprint and AT&T are also poised to enter the market, and AT&T isn't re-entering the market by buying a baby-bell, they are going to deliver television/internet/phone over (the former) TCI's cable lines. so, sure, the baby bells might form a new nationwide local provider, but their networks were made accessible to all kinds of ompanies when the Telecom industry was deregulated.
The same is happening with power companies, they now are going to face competion in the local networks that they once controlled.
Of course, the real problem is the fact that the two largest oil companies (mobil and ?exxon?) are going to merge... but even then, there is still BP/Amoco, Shell, HESS (which wasn't formed from standard oil) and others.
Ports of the linux kernal to Psion are relatively useless... If you really want a linux-based palmtop, then, pitch your idea to venture capitalists, and design one that is really useful, because, as far as I know, EPOC32 is a very easy to use/quick/simple Operating system for these systems.
Another great project could be to create a Linux clone of Psi-Win, that would be useful.
If I've offended anyone over this, then I am Sorry, Linux is a great OS, on desktops/workstations/servers/etc. but on palmtops it will need a lot of work before it will be a viable option, and frankly, it would be a more useful expenditure of all of our time, to make the current options (PalmOS, and EPOC32) Syncronize, etc, with Linux. Lots of people use these devices, the operating systems work fine, and these people would have one less reason to not use linux if they can sync up these devices quickly and easily.
Oh, and you really don't need a Beowulf of these things.
WordPerfect 2000 for linux is JUST going into beta testing as we speak. The first release of the OS probably will not be bundled. But expect a bundled version to be released as well. After Wordperfect is ported.
Now the questions: Will the suite be native Linux applications, or WINE emulated stuff? I hope they're native apps. But whatever, as long as they work...
Ford Parts only work on ford autos, but another company could create compatible parts that worked on ford autos. Microsoft software only works with microsoft operating systems, however, they don't want any one else to provide software for their OSen.
nobody, child or adult should be drinking if they won't be responsible. And lets face it, the younger you are the less you see cases of people drinking because they enjoy a beer, and more because they want to get toasted.
yeah, most can, but why should we stop this kid, if he is capable?
Disclaimer: I'm 15, and of (i hope) at least standard Slashdot Intelligence. I also have something called common sense, and frankly I could be a CTO as well if I had the funds, the motivation and support from some of the "Adults" out there, none of whom (including the US Prez) can hold a candle to my IQ. Humans in general want everyone to conform to certain standards, because this is all our feeble minds can comprehend. We can't believe that one or two kids out of a couple hundered are way beyond their classmates in these areas. This guy did something incomprehensible to the rest of humanity, should he be punished for this? Of course not, he needs to go to Comdex, ITS HIS JOB!!!
Ive never used a Qualcomm, however, in my limited experience, I discovered that Motorola has the worst interfaces, while Nokia (proud owner of a 5100) has the best. (i esp. enjoy the built in games.) But apparently, Nokia and Ericcson phones are powered by Psion's Epoc32
Directors Officers and anyone who owns 5% or more of the company is an insider. My rule is, that if you have to file with the SEC to buy the shares, then you are an insider.
6-8% is irrelevant, its hardly a controlling interest. To influence Linux Mall, they would need to be able to control SCO, and therefore would need a Larger investment. There is no "in" to speak of.
Matter can be destroyed, According to the Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy, Matter can be destroyed in Nuclear Reactions, but it is converted to an equivalent amount of energy, and Vice Versa. E=mc^2, anyone?
AOL's TAC client is easy to install, as long as you have tcl installed. You just unzip/tar the archive into the directory of choice. relatively straigtforward.

It'll be the first televised space mission since the Appollo missions that actually gets good ratings!!!!
But seriously, i'd volunteer for that mission... all in the name of science right?

Yes, standard GTK... That sounds good...

seriously, though... The processor is driven by a Basic Stamp II chip, so the interface is likely in BASIC.
ok, then...
Nothing will save Mozilla short of a complete rewrite, done quickly in record time.
the new interface is horrible
A sun Enterprise 10000 server should be about enough to handle MSIE at a reasonable speed.

Just a Rant people...
Not really, then VALinux and other hardware manufacturers would be less likely to sell their product... bad business move.

I've been doing _MY_ homework in Linux for over a year now. WordPerfect 8, StarOffice, the GIMP pretty much covers what I need for school.
really? I usually argue wheter its pronounced Dawse or Dahse.... I pronounce Linux like this LINUX. You read it... you interpret it. have fun.
