I have downloaded a lot of pdf and other files, only to delete them after 5 minutes because it was not what I was looking for or I did not like the style. Think of a download like someone picking up a book in a book store and looking through it. Sometimes it results in a sale, but usually not (at least in my case).
One thing missing from comments is how good is the book that the author gave away for free. Can someone who has read it comment on this ? Just because a book has been written does not mean it automatically has to make money.
If I invite people to write on my car freely, and then selectively erase some of the stuff written to leave only the stuff I agree with, that's censorship.
It should be pointed out that according to that definition, deleting spam and obscene posts would also be considered censorship.
mod_isapi is a core
module of the Apache package that implements the Internet Server
extension API. The extension allows Apache to serve Internet
Server extensions (ISAPI.dll modules) for Microsoft Windows
based hosts.
So are you only vulnerable if you use ISAPI ? It does look like that module is enabled by default though. I wonder why ?
I use Google to search Wikipedia. I find the builit-in search functionality of Wikipedia to be very poor and using Google seems to get me better matches. Looking at the intent of your question I guess my answer would be Wikipedia. However, it really depends. If I am looking for an howto article, especially about programming Google or Yahoo is it. If I want an overview of something that I know nothing about then Wikipedia is where I would go. If it is a movie or an actor/actoress, I would probably try IMDB before either of them. dict.org to look up meaning of words. Gamespot for some basic info on Games. I guess the geek in me wants to use the right tool for the right job.
The thought of flying for two days without toothpaste leaves a pasty film in my mouth.
Look into getting disposable finger toothbrushes, that already have a bit of paste on them. Just take them out of the packet and wet them to activate. Much more convienient to carry then toothbrush and toothpaste. See http://www.floss.com/dental_dots.htm as a n example. I have been buying them for a 3-4 years from Walgreens.
My opinion is that these "tools" far from aiding business
actually cause far more time to be wasted
I guess you would object to people bringing in their laptops to meetings too. How about a writing pad, it can be used to doodle on drawn non-work related images ? I think you need to realize that not everybody thinks and works like you and you need to accept and work with the differences. Yes some people abuse blackberries, but these people would very easily find some other distraction to replace it if you try to ban blackberries.
I also wonder about the mentaility "It is not useful for me, so it must not be useful for anyone else and should be banned."
See UserLinux description on Wikipedia. And I do agree with you, there should be a better description on Userlinux.com website. I still don't know why one would use UserLinux rather than Ubuntu.
I believe they are advocating Linux on servers and not the desktop at this point. Linux for general end-user desktop consumption still needs a little more work IMHO.
Think it'll just go away because they're dead? The coompanies can sue the estate (your inheritance?) to get the money. They can also collect (harass) from next of kin.
And how does switching away from AOL changes this ?
I use my blackberry instead. Its light, great battery life and the screen is large enough to read. I have mostly been reading the Project Gutenberg repackaged stuff from Blackmask.com but also some from the Baen free e-books. I guess once I exhaust those too, I will start purchasing e-books.
In school, this article was required reading for our class. It addresses the same topic as TFA.
The essential point being there is a trade-off between quality and quantity and each organization/project needs to decide how far they want to lean in either direction.
but wouldn't the simple precaution of turning up the radio/TV defeat this ? Humans can pickout certain noise and filter out everything else quite easily. How does tinfoil and other "vibrating surfaces" fare in this regards ?
DivX certified DVD players have a built-in code which you provide while downloading the movie from DivX.com. This then you burn to DVD RW, etc and play in your DVD player.
There are some restrictions on how many times you can play the content though.
It's not that I suspect the Mozilla corp of anything untoward, and short of omitting it entirely, I can't think of a better way to to say what they appear to be saying.
All the same, it's a bit semantically null, innit? Where's the point of a FAQ if you fill it with meaningless platitudes?
Gestures are a form of hand-writing too.

He lives in the city that RIM is based in. The economy of this entire city is very closed tied to RIM at this point.

I know a place to get a whole bunch of username/passwords.
We should probably tag all the articles without threaded comments with something to make it easy to figure out.
My suggestion: Singlethreaded

What's up with the "you must be new here" remarks?
Search for "You must be new here" on this Wikipedia page. It explains this part ofThe thought of flying for two days without toothpaste leaves a pasty film in my mouth.

Interestingly enough, its listed under Inactive or Discontinued distributions on Wikipedia.
Not to be an ass, but what is Userlinux?

And how does switching away from AOL changes this ?what does this mean for people who post comments on, per se, blogs? Am I now unable to use my own comment in any other place?
How about resumes ? If I add my resume to monster would I be prevented from posting the exact same one to Yahoo ?I use my blackberry instead. I use "ssh -p 80 -D 5500 me@homemachine" and then just tell Gaim to use localhost:5500 as the proxy. This gets me through most firewall restrictions.

Sounds like we need a site similar to http://jobs.perl.org/>

I am sure patches will be welcomed, as usual
