I wan't confused by the volume dial, but I must agree that QT4 is the ugliest, least flexible, least apealing UI I've seen. Having a HUGE grey border with grey buttins nearly the same shade should get someones shot.
If Java on the desktop was usefull it would be a threat to MS. Unfortunately Java on the desktop has been mostly hype (please note I qualified that with mostly, YOUR spinning cube is amazing).
Given that it's relatively useless and a potential threat it's no suprise MS dumped it.
It appears Java's future lies on the server.
When are we going to get a good OO language that isn't hung up on this crossplatform binary compatability?
Haven't you noticed that in poll after poll the American people were against the breakup of Microsoft?
http://www.businessweek.com/1998/18/b3576075.htm 11% Think MS should be broke up.
I don't know what it is with you weath haters, why did you have your heads in the sand? BOTH BUSH AND GORE stated during the campaign that they were against the breakup. For some reason many of you pretended like this wasn't true, but it was. This whole exercise was Clinton paying back the techno-whiner lobby of Ellison, McNealy, etc. It never had any future. It's not a good idea, and the people are against it. Go find another boogeyman.
I think one thing that would foster Linux PPC adoption, and PPC in general would be a relatively cheap PPC motherboard. I remember IBM released their reference design some tine ago and there was some noise from 3rd parties about product anouncements, but nothing materialized. Does anyone know when we might see something?

If Microsoft has ported IE & Office to BSD can Linux be that far behind?
Don't forget that Linux is at a much further stage of development for the Dreamcast. It's available at http://linuxdc.sourceforge.net/
