You're question, unfortunately, will spawn a bunch of personal opinions and elitist responses.
I've been using Discreet's 3dstudio max since it was a DOS app (then autodesk's 3ds studio made by the Yost group). I've been teaching it since Max r1 came around. I find it interesting that your question doesn't mention it.
Obviously I'm a big fan of it. I highly recommend it - it is very easy to use, has plently of free pluggins as well as commercial ones, open architecture for programming and scripting and its default scanline rendering engine is very fast. Some people will argue that its rendering quality is inferior to, say, Maya, but I beg to differ.
"Hey, Jethro, let see if we can put all the pc's components into this n and see if we can make an x-pc".
This is getting silly. What's the point?...and don't say "because it was there". Cases with craftsmenship is one thing, but enbedding a pc in a pile of crap is lame.
Why is it that a tablet pc now gets cheers, as compared to a few years ago when all attempts for a tablet product fell on deaf ears (besides specialized applications)?
Since the PDA craze is still hot, I suppose a new piece of hardware with some new, nifty software features is enough to get this thing some thumbs up. I've always wondered why there weren't hinges on laptops like this one. It seems like a no brainer (touch screen or not - a mouse/stick/pad on the side of the screen would have worked too).
Its good PR if someone write HTML/websites for accesibility. However, to federally mandate that all 7 year olds who have websites to make them accesible is a bit much....perhaps in time.
Can you imagine "html for dummys" with the accesiblity appendix?
So why can't I play tetris on my tivo? Where's the hack guys?

What is this world coming too? What does it mean when Starwars.com has banner ads and pop-up ads?! Where are when when we have advertisements spawning adverstisements?
I work at the University of Kentucky and while the article does list other Universities, I'd like to add that we too have a very complete wireless network. Since we are a state institution, we also have an open, public wireless system. Anyone can drive up to campus and surf the web. Don't be foolish in thinking that we are't secure, the wireless network is quite seperate from the rest of the network on campus. In fact, you do have to authenticate to get to specific campus web servers, use proxies to access parts of the library, etc.
would allow cable companies to 'turn off' the firewire port, which DVR's will use to connect to digital televisions, so that some broadcasts can't be recorded.
That should read "which DVR's could use to connect".
I tried it out. its pretty neat. it would be nice if the display spun fasters. there was a little flicker, but the 3d effect worked pretty well (paralax). there were some great exhibits this year.
This sounds a bit like Tivo ads argument. Some Tivo fans freaked when the movie trailers started showing up on Tivo. The Zealots loved it and thought it was good for Tivo to finally try to make some money.
The same thing is happening here. The real deal mac zealots have no problem with the new prices. While others aren't happy with the itools costs and os x upgrade price.
It's time for someone, who matters, to step up to the plate and explain the advertising problem. The bottom line is that there are too many ads, too many to notice. If we were ever to go back the old technique of show sponsors, and few breaks, the ads might just have impact once again.
Where are we going? What is next? Product placement, ads scrolling on the screen during shows, more 'commercial breaks', etc. Eventually this will break, there just won't be enough time for more ads. Marketing as we know it will need to revolutionize, again.
How many pop-ups are too many? How many commercial breaks are too many?
It reminds me of the cigarettes that Bruce Willis was smoking in 5th element. 25% tobacco, 75% filter.
Someday this will eventually happen, I just hope that it is sooner than later.
Its all about the artwork and packaging. The artwork and packaging is worth more on a dvd than on a audio cd. There is more emotion with a dvd, unless you're a HUGE fan of a band.
I bet the visit was a test to see if they needed to buy him out or not. He won't win the case, Disney does their homework.

Look into it.

the acer does have a keyboard.

It all about timing. Flexibility is finally "in".

In terms of making 'stuff out of junk', was the A-team and MacGuyver any kind of idea generator for Junk Yard Wars?
No questions about HDTV? what gives?

What were the final charges and conviction?
It's simple, they are asking for this because it would then be easier to monitor, shutdown, and manage their employees who use it as a distraction.

That is really an arcade adaptation of BeachHead 2000. I've spent hourson my pc playing. do a search for it and d/l the demo. fun.

Nothing new under the sun.
Anyone wonder why these have never been performed? Maybe b/c they aren't any good?

I had >900 and quit. ...but that was on the origianl pc version (a pcjr is what i played it on)
When are they going to get it right? Why can't they get past the square screen? Sony has it right, push the screen to the extents of the device.

That image in the article is quite out of scale.
