The above poster makes sense. If your web site is clanbob.net, you've got allot of problems.

Lets reduce cost: optimize your graphics. Currently your second loading page (which I think is your true home page) is somewhere in the 128k - 200k range, that is way too much.

Next let's see what's you can do.

Do you have a subscriber list that you CAN send e-mail to. If so those names are worth about
    4.00 to 5.50 per 1000 mailings.
if you have demographic data city, state, zip on those names
add 2.00 per 1000 names or .25 per detail
    if you have age
    add .45 to 1.00
    if you have gender
    add .25
    if you have Income
    add .25
if you have Creed or religion
    add .15

if you have any likes or dislikes data
    add .05 per detail

IF your list has an 90%+ average of women
add to the bottom 15% premium.
it seems that the women list are very valuable

I don?t know of anybody that?s getting over 25.00 per cpm on their mailing list.. I know a few people that are getting 9?s and 10?s.

That now covers income from mailings.

    Banner advertising:

Work with someone that will sell you advertising. You give up 25% - 75% of your revenue, but your get income.

Check your web logs, can you correlate your page loadings, with geographic info and web site patrons likes and dislikes.

This is the rate I?ve been offered.
3.00 per cpm is easy to find. And could work as a first / second page loading
5.00 per cpm takes some work should be in the more targeted parts of the site
Over 10.00 per cpm, I?ve seen the contracts for this I have to give up 40% of my earnings to advertising broker for these rates.

You have to make sure you get about 5000 page loads per day. A page load says the entire page is downloaded, that?s what advertisers want.

  2. Parents are the blame on Gaming Companies Being Sued Over Columbine · · Score: 2

This lawsuit is frivolous. There is enough said about it above.

I feel for the victim's parents, but do they really think it's the fault of the video companies. What frightens me most is that, the parents in my beloved country (USA) do not like to take responsibility for their children. It is a shame that morality (of any sorts) is not taught at home. If it is being taught, then I think most parents are not doing to good of a job.

I watch yesterday, as 2 kids (about 7 years old) fought over a ball. Where, at the end, it came to blows. I mumbled to myself "good job in raising a kid", and then I proceeded to laugh. My daughter asked (as only a 4 year old can) me why. I said, "Violence leads to someone getting hurt". And explained to her what I felt is right and wrong. Later on she was playing, and one of the 2 kids got into my daughters face, I quickly looked to see her reactions. A look of fear and courage crossed her face. I walked over to the father of the kid. Made mentioned of the situation, he ignored my comment. At that point my daughter put the ball down, walked over to me and said my quote above. I laughed and then she copied my laughed. And as we were laughing together I realized that my daughter just shamed the guy. Which made me laugh louder.

Later on my daughter was playing again when the same kid tried to take her shovel. I again mentioned it to the father. He looked at me and said, "Do you got a problem?", I told him to watch his child and see what was going on. The kid took her shovel. My daughter stood up, walked over to me, and said in tears what had happened. Did the father do anything, No. I told my daughter to go over there and get her shovel back. She went back and with a rage of hell started to yell at the kid, every parent in the playground noticed, that is when he yelled at his son to give back the shovel.

I guess my point is that my daughter had to shame them into submission. Why couldn't the father of the boy be more responsible? Yes I am protective. That?s something I'm ok with. I'm also willing to teach my child what is right and wrong.

When parents start to take blame, then the USA will be on the right track again.

The internet could reduce these distribution costs towards a marginal cost of zero. Bang goes the recording industry. Musicians could distribute their own work freely.

    This is also very true.

I'm not trolling but I would like to add some other points.

Now, how would the musician earn revenue, if the work is distributed freely. I can not see revenue if the work is not controlled. Napster clearly proved there was a market for free trade music. If a count of "violated music" could ever be done, we could see that the labels lost considerable sums of money.

Did napster help some bands become more popular? Most likely. Did napster help promote more sales? No, the general trend of the late 90's was still on the rise and there were no statistical differences in USA consumer buying patterns that did not have a correlation. Did people buy more CD? Yes, the household demographics that buys cd's continued to buy cd's and more people ( due to income rise) fit into that demographics.

I would like to see a change in copyright laws that benifit the creator of the work, but when the big corps own the "game" they get to create the rules. Some where, this entire game is going to change ( better or worst I don't know ) but the outcome is going to be interesting.

Every department had the right to call the firing stoppage for up to 4 months just incase the workflow was justified and a firing was not. The respective department decided firings. Everyone knew that employees hired would reduce their respective department's bonus by a certain percentage so hiring was very carefully done.

The bonus pool was publicly posted for each department and updated weekly. The percentage of the bonus was shown for each. Even the accounting department had one (they created it). Many of my employees made considerable higher wages then I did.

These views in my opinion only works long term and I'm not sure if it works on the short term.

    1) Find out from your employees, what are their hobbies or volunteer efforts.
    2) Support those efforts by granting them extra time off to attend.
    3) Ask for them to distribute information about your company at these meetings

For example, I read to blind children on a regular basis, about once a week. At these reading I always had my company shirt on and a couple of brochures. When someone would ask me about myself, I would go on tell them and pitch my company at the same time.

Some volunteer organizations will let you place an advertisement within their newsletter for minimal dollars ($ 50.00 to $100.00). That would generate about 1 client per every 3 newsletters.

During Christmas, my firm would work for a month in soup kitchens and make a small donation of $ 2,000. We had posters put up, and we all wore our company shirts. Many of a time we got free press that way. We also had the opportunity to meet other people that might be able to use our services. We landed a huge transport contract that way. One of our reps was working next to a plant manager's wife, one thing lead to another and he got to do a presentation to the plant manager.

Long story short, one day I was reading to the daughter of a news reporter and they did a small write up of my shipping company I was on TV that generated a lot of buzz and got me 3 clients.

Don't waste your time supporting those things you or your employees don't believe in. Your pitch will not be sincere to the prospective receiver.
