Then you missed out. I'm playing through the Hordes of the Underdark expansion on my PowerBook at the moment, and it's excellent (yes, you can install the PC NWN expansion packs fine on the Mac with the free OpenKnights installer). There's plenty of user-created modules to start on once I've finished, and then I'll start looking into visiting the persistant worlds people are hosting.
My music's organised by band/album as well. Using iTunes allows me to play only my top-rated stuff, or the stuff I've listened to least-recently, automatically. Using a system without a playlist won't work for that.
The Australian Apple online store had nearly 14,000 preorders in the first 2 hours after they became available, so I'd say they're going to do rather well with the iPod Mini.:)
The scouring of the Shire was not filmed. Peter Jackson specifically mentions in the commentary on the Fellowship special edition that it will not appear in any form.
It might have been clear if you'd paid attention to the repeated references throughout all three films of the imminent departure of the elves to the Grey Havens.
Did you miss the entire leave/stay subplot with Elrond and Arwen?
Oh sure, it holds twice as much, by storing files at 64kbps. Go go sound quality! Let's not forget that ATRAC came in last in a public 128kbps sound quality test.
iPod owners don't shop based on price. We shop based on quality. Don't try and argue this. As somebody once said, there's nothing that somebody can't build a whole lot cheaper and a whole lot worse.
Effectively this *is* a second generation product. The first 802.11g device Apple released (the Airport Extreme) has performed pretty much flawlessly (like any other wireless product, they've released a couple of firmware updates to fix minor problems for some people).
The same audio cable will plug straight into the Airport Express. It'll sound better to boot (it's a line output, not a headphone out, therefore the impedence will match your stereo better).
While nifty, unless I'm misreading the information at the site, this thing can not be used to make an ethernet printer wireless, only USB printers.
Huh? You're able to run the Airport Express as a bridge, giving you access to every device on your network. In which way would this not allow you to connect to an ethernet printer?
You do realize there's a reason a G5 system has 9 fans in it don't you? They're not exactly known for running cool. I'm sure you could grill hamburgers on one easily.
They run 9 fans so they can run virtually silent. The CPU consumes less power and puts out less heat than an Athlon or P4 - go do some research.
Well, there's 2001: A Space Odyssey, which did some truly amazing things 9 years earlier... but there were no explosions and everything was as scientifically accurate as possible, so it probably doesn't count.:)
It's important to note that Sony is busily killing the PC version of EQ as well - the last expansion sucked goat balls for 'uber' players and casuals alike, and people are leaving in droves.
I tried it several times and my PowerBook (running 10.3.3 with all the latest security patches) doesn't seem to do anything except download a drive image and open the Help viewer. No script seems to actually run. I wonder if Apple's already fixed the problem or if something on my system is preventing it from working.

*Evidently* my previous post was made from Windows, where I'm lacking the OS X spellchecker. :P
How the hell did the parent get modded 'Insightful'? The poster evidentally didn't even read the post, much less the article.
Well, I paid $600 Australian for my 20Gb iPod a couple of months ago, and the same 20Gb unit will now go for $450. That's cheaper in my book.
My music's organised by band/album as well. Using iTunes allows me to play only my top-rated stuff, or the stuff I've listened to least-recently, automatically. Using a system without a playlist won't work for that.
The 15" and 17" PBs have a PC slot... the 12" couldn't possibly fit one without utilising TARDIS technology.

Why is the failure of another OS to control the fans correctly Apple's problem? They work fine with the OS Apple supply and support.

You don't want to be hooking the headphone socket of your iPod to your stereo. Use the dock instead, which has a real line-level output.

Erm, a CD *IS* PCM, you don't encode to PCM.
I talked somebody into buying a $4500 (AUD) PowerBook in a day, I don't see why the grandparent story can't be accurate.
Both will work.
You're welcome.

Pity that Apple is a hardware company, really.

It will extend any 802.11g network. The text only mentions the Airport Extreme (802.11g) to differentiate it from the old Airport (802.11b).
10 users on one access point really isn't an issue either. How many wireless users do you have in your house, really?
I'll be buying one of these as soon as possible. Nice work, Apple.. took me totally by surprise.
I use my iPod because it fits easily into my pocket.. I can't say the Neuros will do the same. :)
