Dual layer discs existed, but very few pressing plants had the capability to produce them in the beginning, so many titles came out on flippers rather than 12 months later when the pressing schedules eased up.
Well, the Sasser exploit runs arbitrary code on your machine. The original Sasser does nothing, sure, but a varient could be released tomorrow that wipes your hard drive. Sounds critical to me.
The average consumer already owns a DVD player, therefore they can play DVD-A. The SACD won't give you better sound without yet another pricey piece of hardware, therefore it will fail.
Most people really don't have a problem with the sound of CDs, so the only reason to get SACD would be multichannel sound and hey! DVD-A provides that.
How the hell is LotR ripping off 5th Element? The scene was described in a book written half a century ago, and I think I missed the part with the skyscrapers and flying cars.
Sun don't *need* incentive, it's an open source project and will continue with or without Sun. Considering that Sun are working on their own Linux desktop, I imagine it would be fairly high on their list of Things We Like.
My PowerBook had the white spot problem, I called the store I bought it from, they took it back, replaced the screen, and I had it back in a few days. Good experiences with Apple so far.
Reminds me of being back in high school, where one of the computer rooms had constant problems with hard drives dying, motherboard blowing up, etc. It turned out that the 3-phase equipment in the metalwork department (big drills, cutters and stuff) were somehow interfering with the normal 240V power. The admin added some hefty filtering stuff in the computer room and the problem stopped.
Yep, I used to love the titanium PowerBooks but hated OS 9. I changed my mind when I accidentally dropped and broke my GF's PowerBook and the replacement came with OS X 10.2. I bought my 15" AlBook in September and it's my main machine these days.
The 90nm G5 produces a fraction more heat than the 1.25Ghz G4. A little bit of extra heatsink/waterpipe magic and the G5 Powerbook will probably run slightly *cooler* than your 17" PB.
The people throw shadows, but much darker ones than the objects around them.. why?
The real issue I have with that screenshot is that everything is perfectly straight. I don't care about the textures, no fire escape is that straight in real life!
Same-sex relationships existed in the first Sims game, though I can't recall what the situation was regarding marriage. You could certainly fall in love and share a bed with members of either sex, the engine didn't care.
Updated, rebooted, working fine. Network shares seem to be working well (Samba and W2k/XP boxes), Mail, Safari are both running, no sirens are going off... I remain a happy Mac user.;)

Apple tries to publish the CVE number for every vulnerability it patches. Visit CVE to read a full technical rundown.
:)
So, I guess the point is that Apple respond to holes and you're too lazy to look them up?

Yep, Windows ME is the only version of Windows in the last 5 years that doesn't *operate*. I'd say leaving it out is fair (and kinder to Microsoft).
I tried to download too, but I'm in Australia and therefore not special enough to download a free song.
'Pleasantville' was done the same way, and for much the same reason.

Because it's on DVD. Buy, and enjoy. FOREVER! *evil laugh*
The average person doesn't care where their application was installed as long as they can find an icon for it and it works.

How did a 98SE box get MSBlast? Did it suddenly grow an RPC service?

(For the average user, OSX offers little over OS8, except a forced upgrade in hardware.)
*cough*real multitasking, security and stability*cough*

I'm pretty sure the assets were sold when Commodore went bankrupt. Escom sold off whatever remaining hardware existed (mostly A1200s and A600s).
ProgressQuest?

It's easy enough to remove the QuickTime icon in the toolbar, just check the preferences.. :)
Until you hit somebody, it's great.
