    You're right. Humanity DIDN't come from monkeys.

    Primates evolved from a more primative animal and then evolution split off what became humans on one pranch of the Primate tree, while monkeys, apes, lemurs, the GOP, et al, are some of the other branches on that same tree.

    So, to recap, You're a dolt. Humans and Apes evolved from a common ancestor. Humans did not come from monkeys, monkeys did not come from humans.

    Our common ancestor was some manny of small furry creature, that ran about on all fours.

    OK, you show me in the contract form you have to sign at CVS before they hand you the camera that they are only renting it to you and that you have to return it.

    Oh, wait, there IS no contract and you're not renting it. Not only do you NOT get your $30.00 back, you have to pay them $20.00 MORE to get your video off the camera and onto a DVD.

    SO, if you can somehow twist these facts into some manner of "contract" where CVS "owns" the camera that they are merely "renting" to you, well, <Brian the dog from Family Guy>"Can I buy some pot from you?"</Brian the dog from Family Guy>

    Thieves and vandals merely took advantage of what hackers have invented and shared with the world. Took advantage and turned these tools to an evil purpose. Not hackers, THIEVES & VANDALS!

    Owned, Published, either way, C&G were making money off it. Apple ecame calling and SOMEONE sold the rights to SoundJam to Apple.

    Shortly thereafter, C&G no longer sold SoundJam.

    Dude, what makes you think I'm slagging either SoundJam or iTunes. I was pointing out an interesting bit of trivia regarding early versions of iTunes, relating to its SoundJam origins. Said origins seemingly predating the patent that Contois claims iTunes in now infringing. They had several years to file a suit against C&G concerning infringement, yet they waited until now to do so.

    SIDPlayer and SID Symphony on the Commodore 64.

    The 64 could control a MDI device, it could transfer MIDI data from one device to another via it's serial line, it could even move digital music from the C64 to a portible music player (A Walkman cassette player) via the sound out port and a patch cable.

    Sounds like a WHOLE lot of WAY prior art to me.

    Indeed, the folks who own and license the rights to USB and FireWire certainly must be liable for SOME damages, what with their reckless aiding and abetting the transfer of bits to and from hard drives and flash RAM in portible MP3 players.

    ...if you buy a Mac PPC G5 today, it'll be supported by Apple for the next 3-4 years or so.

    By which time, not only will you likely be in the market for a new computer, the shakedown as Apple intgrates Intel into its hardware line will have been completed. 2008/9 era Macs will work fine, run fast and cool, and very, very likely run all the software you're using on that just purchsed today PPC G5, save for the OS, of course.

    I swear, substitute "PPC" for "68040" and "IBM" for "Intel" and this whole non-issue sounds just like the bloviating when Apple went RISC and dropped Motorola's 68xxx CPUs.

    Go and buy that new PPC G5 you want. It'll be just fine. You'll have a good computer that you'll be happy with for the next few years.

    You obviously HAVE a keyboard. You OBVIOUSLY have a monitor. Odds are that you have SOME kind of input device akin to a mouse or a trackball.

    That's whay the Mini is sold without all that other stuff. If you're upgrading from a Windows desktop, you already have the peripherals.

    And, frankly, unless the Apple Enforcement Gundams are pointing guns at you, you are not being forced to even contemplate buying a Mac Mini, no more than you are being prevented from buying that AMD system you mentioned.

    I have been using one of these for well over a year.

    Coupled with USB Overdrive (Sorry, Mac only!) this is the best mouse I've ever used. Good luck finding one in North America, though.

    I keep my hand straight and rest my arm on the desktop. The mousepad I use raises the mouse just enough so that I can rest my wrist on the pad and move the mouse with my fingers and a minimum of wrist/arm movement.

    I've rotated the pad 90 degrees, so that the "top" is now one of the "sides". This give me more than enough room to move the mouse and still have sufficient area for resting my wrist on the pad. YMMV.

    Not only is it a functionally superior mouse, it's also bloody gorgeous, too. A beautiful little piece of abstract sculpture on my desktop.

    I can, and have, used it for hours at a time with no distress whatsoever.
