I still use a Commodore SX-64, because my C128 is still not hooked back up. I need to fix one of the F keys, then it'll be ready to use again. I power up my Vic-20's and Plus 4's every now and then, too.
Anyone else have a Gorilla Bananna printer? or an MPS-801?
Yea, but if you notice, all the strip clubs in canada, near the US, live on american $1 bills. Hard to slide a coin in some chick's undies. So, small-denomination bills still come in handy at times.
Yea, we just started using that a couple months ago here in our IT dep't. We have 4 techs to take care of several hundred users. Usually 2 of us are on projects, or readying new PC's for users, so that only leaves 2 people to take "hotline" calls. Our trackit server is hosted in Chicago (We're in upstate NY), and it's gettin' pretty pokey after a couple months of using it. I generally see 15-40 tickets go in for our client services group every day. To open a ticket to view, it used to take 5-7 seconds to get to a point that you can edit it. Now it's taking 10-15 seconds... Just imagine how slow this will be in a year or two. Ugh.
Now all I need is some telnet software and I'm all set... I really gotta get my C128 outa the basement and back up and running. I bought a 20mhz super cpu for it, and still have yet to install it. Damn. Gotta do.
I frequenly take my truck off road, so a small 2wd car isn't for me. Well, not as my only vehicle that is. Up here in UPstate NY, we get way too much snow for me to risk my life in a small vehicle. I prefer to be the large one on the road, with loads of traction and weight to make the goings easier. I'll pay the fuel costs. I usually spend about $200-250 a month in gas. Maybe I'll get a car for non-winter driving, with better fuel economy, but I gotta find something rear-wheel drive, V8. I know my dad's 96 Caprice gets high 20's on the highway (my truck gets about 12mpg city or highway) and high teens/low 20's city, so they CAN do decent mileage and lotsa power in a fullsize car.
My commute to work IS a highway trip. Plus, kinda difficult to use a bike for transporting computer equip. And, I don't want to be stranded like everyone else when we get our few feet of snow.
Gotta love the 66-72 amercian cars. They spit more unburned fuel out the tailpipe at full throttle than those little cars burn in their cylinders. But, OH the g-forces...:)
...get one of those new Dodge Neon SRT/4's... Fastest affordable production car on the street, with 22mpg city and 30mph highway. The added bonus of no batteries to worry about replacing, and not having to worry about an electric motor for acceleration help. They're $20g sticker price, a little difficult to find sometimes, though.
I still have my Winner M3 mouse. I bought that instead of the Commodore 1351 because it was (1) cheaper (2) more ergonomic and (3) had a cool extra feature. Back then not all programs could use mouse input. Some could use joystick or paddle input. This mouse had the usual joystick emulation mode, where when you moved a direction, it emulated pushing a joystick in that direction. Not very friendly, since it only moved in 8 directions at a set speed. What this had was the paddle emulation! Programs that used the old Atari paddles for input (drawing programs, mainly) worked great with this mouse. Hold down one button when powering up the mouse, and it went into the emulation mode. Nice and proportional, worked like it should. Ah, those were the days. That reminds me, I really need to get my C128 system back together and running. It's been WAY too long since I had that up.
Isn't it great that he's using a Commodore 1701 or 1702 monitor (Can't tell from that pic, they're identical aside from the label.) on his Apple computer? Those 170x monitors were actually very durable, they were made by JVC, I believe.
I'm all for dropping the CW req. but I understand why it's there... It's low-tech, and can be received a lot further than any other type of transmission... very little of the actual signal needs to make it thru in order to get the message. High-tech relys on more equipment, and therefore, usually has a higher risk of malfunction, and more difficult repair. Pretty easy to make a cw switch... any two pieces of electrically conductive materials would work in a pinch.
Well, most of them at least. I think common sense stopped being a requirement of birth right after the GUI was gaining speed. Clueless college kids bringing their shit to school. I guess it follows the same path as STD's. Ohwell, glad I don't have to put up with them... well, I suppose salespeople aren't much different, just pushier.
Hey... I never used MSN anyway, and anyone that wants to talk with me can just use something else. We use MSN at work... well, not we, THEY do. They can have my ICQ number tho.

"Not It!"
That is all.
Thank you.
Done.

If they just take up a couple frames, why not just remove the frames? I'm sure I can live without those 1/24th of a second blips.
I just don't use IE for anything but WindozeupDates or company intranet sites. Mozilla for everything else, keeps the pc clean.
Sheesh, I heard about this on The Truckin' Bozo show last nite. When a truck driving show beats Slashdot to the news, it's the dawn of a new age.
And the panic button?
Oh stop. :P you forgot the quotes...
:)
LOAD"PORN",8,1
Actually, with JiffDOS, it'd be %PORN

Ha. Can you hear me now? Nope? HOw about now? NOpe... da-dit-da-da-etc... Yep, heard that.
...this kid builds a reactor, and M$ can't even build a reliable patch system for their OS'es. Well, for that matter, a reliable anything.
I guess if I wanna get my story posted, I'll just have to make sure I submit one that's already been submitted...

It's also the fault of the unborn that their host carrier is downloading music illegally. Full story at 11.

...the downloads own you! Actually, the kicking and screaming of the RIAA will try to slow down that process as much as possible.
...for viruses to make it into the home! And spyware. And ads. And... well, you get the idea.
