All I can say is do you know who DEC was? Do you know what the Alpha was? Do you know how many years DEC with the Alpha had the highest clock rates and SpecFP numbers?
DEC kicked ass. They sold on the order of 10,000% fewer CPUs when compared to the volume crap that Intel was pushing. Commodity hardware is just that, cheap shit. The kid with the Honda civic will never run the 24 hours of Le Mans while a stock Viper or Z06 can.
When/If they ever make one I am all over it. Dual core G5 might be 4 float engines! I do not want a good looking x86 32 bit Mac, dual core x64 maybe...
Give me one reason why Microsoft should stick with IE? I can give you one to jump ship for. IE = broken HTML. Rather than fix it just use firefox and add the plugins they need.
Microsoft cuts costs in other areas. why not with the development of IE, use a free open source browser. Microsoft now does all the license validation for all products in India via a subcontractor. Things are getting tight and they have to pinch every penny.
If you try to marry the two you might not think either are very good...
Cisco recommends no more than 8 simultaneous phone calls via a single access point with the 7920 wireless phone. Try it your self, try 8 users calling from a single hotspot. For one the hot spot must have at least 768k of upstream bandwidth. QOS on wireless connections is VERY immature. Does your ISP have QOS for the SIP payload? Is one person at the hotspot downloading a.ISO image? Is someone trying to use Bit-Torrent? All hotspots are usually unencrypted, so all your conversation can be recorded by anyone at the hotspot...
Remember when you were a kid with a cheap walkie talkie? This is just a newer version of a walkie-talkie. A damn expensive walkie-talkie if you ask me...
Just buy a Mac Mini. Small, quiet, cool, stylish and will not devaluate like a PC. I have one and you cannot hear the fan or the hard drive when you are right next to it. The only time the fan kicks on is when decoding video and listening to iTunes at the same time.
The Mac Mini just makes sense. We have yet to see the Intel mini computer they demoed in January...
someone would fix it or take parts that are necessary so that windows apps could run on any os. Microsoft could still sell service and software apps that run on the win32 layer.
If Microsoft cannot fix the security holes then they should opensouce it so it gets fixed by the Linux community. Microsoft can still sell software and support.
Besides security thru intimidation is a false sense of security. Someday everyone will meet up with a bruiser taller, stronger and meaner than you. For starters I would make Gwedo eat that damn cigar!
My brand new Dell D610 at work will NOT plug an play any USB flash devices EXCEPT a Dell 128 meg unit. I called Dell support and was given a list of silly things to try.
I expected to find some mild problems on a new laptop when we put our default w2k image on it. I never expected ANY problems with the Dell xp sp2 in a virgin state from the factory...
PBX's and Key systems will still rule the day for small businesses and branch offices. The cost to roll out VOIP is too much per user. The quality can be poor, choppy and dropped calls. The last 20 years I have seen 0 viruses on one key system and two PBX's. In the last 2 years I have seen two viruses on Cisco Call Manager.
I would say that Apple should start a PBX on Mac OS X and see how many people choose the MS PBX vs the Apple PBX. We all know that viruses for Mac OS X are very rare and it can run for years without a re-boot.
The quicker Cisco gets off Microsoft Windows the more credible the platform can be. A PBX running on Windows is like me bragging about my girlfriend, the one who screws any guy in town and has a different venereal disease every month. She sure is good looking and resilient, the diseases have not killed her or me yet!
My Mac Mini came with 10.3 and I upgraded to 10.4 first installing on a firewire disk with a blank 2.5" new drive in the Mini. I thought it would format the internal IDE drive but it did not. Once I erased the disk I was able to install Tiger on my Mini's internal drive.
I am sure that the Tiger CD I have would install Tiger on most any Apple computer.... My original install CD/DVD might be a different story.
Mine works fine on the Mac Mini, do you have maintenance so you can download the most current software? The only bug I am aware of is that you cannot use VPN client with a Dual processor Mac.:-( I am sure Cisco can fix that...
Come on, they couldn't write secure code to save their life, too lazy and tools that promote laziness. Shit my favorite tool is a hammer and I can use it for everything, even to change the tire on your car. When I am done it does not look pretty but I got to use my favorite tool and did not have to learn anything new!
since the cool things in Solaris 10 are missing on the NON-Sparc platform it looks to be another UNIX toy... I have never been able to get any of our MCAD software ported to Solaris/X86 even though the software exist on the Sparc platform...:-(
Wireless 802.something could be used for hot spot phones if it incorporated many of the features that cell tower/phones use. One that would have helped our Cisco VOIP deployment is full duplex wireless.
Just another pipe dram of mine... I hope my grandkids will have it.:-(
interrupts on the x86 are still an issue. build a server with no shared IRQ's and you will see what I mean. Those shared/cascaded interrupts are much slower than ones that are not shared. To share an IRQ takes CPU resources as well.

OK, I am bait.

How could they possibly re-write it from scratch in as little as a year. Impossible. If I were a betting man all chips would be in.
Every release of Windows you will hear Microsoft clamor the most secure and stable version ever!
"The irony is that Bill Gates claims to be making a stable operating system and Linus Torvalds claims to be trying to take over the world."
If you have ever seen NeXT and OS X you would see immediately that they are one and the same. In 1993 NeXT users had email like out MS outlook.

Just have Microsoft fix their own dam software!

When it needs a recharge does it go to the charger? If it has non-rechargeable doe sit poop them out?

For the most part you cannot get Mac OS X to run on other PowerPC based systems, only Apple computers...
They could do the same thing with a DONGLE on the x86 platform...

was the filename Mac.OS.X.Tiger.X86.READNFO-XISO
Is the Mac.OS.X.Tiger.X86.READNFO-XISO torrent file a fake/hoax? It sounds too good to be true...
956meg one is a fake as well? I have 5 hours to wait to tell.
3 days before it is finally downloaded. I hope it is not a NGAA text file...
too small, 200 meg?
