Is that why out of all the throw-away email addys I have, the hotmail one is the one that constantly filled up with spam even before I'd given it out to a single soul? Seriously.
Personally I like ICQ for the simple fact that I can send someone a message even if they're not online and they'll get it when they do come on. MSN and AIM won't do this, though I think Yahoo does.
This is a tougher fight, and it's one Intel is losing
It looks to me more like AMD is losing. Either way it's a bad thing - competition is good. Then again, maybe it's a good sign that we each see it differently.... it would seem to indicate that it's too close to call. No matter which chip you prefer, as long as they're racing neck-in-neck it's better for all of us.
Close. Mine were.pif files that I was getting from one of the machines at my work. That virus was W32.Sobig.B@mm Funny thing is we do tech support at my work.
We don't have any "rights" to have guns for the sake of having guns, but rifles can be had for hunting purposes (licensed of course). A hand gun can't be had here unless you're a cop or in the military (or something else that would make one necessary). I'm sure that in the unlikely event that Canada was ever invaded our government wouldn't have a big problem arming those who were willing to defend, (and aren't nuts) seeing as we have no military to speak of.
I'd never join the military, but if anyone (USA included) was invading my country, I'd pick up a gun and defend it. I wonder how many other Canadians feel the same way? Probably more than the USA has soldiers. Not to mention the assistance we'd have from other countries (without having us to bully them).
# avoid points programs does every store have to have a points card now? don't play! the "savings" and bonuses you reap do not represent a decrease in the retailer's profit but, rather, an increase in the median price of services and products offered. the primary purpose of the campaigns is to gather data on you for future marketing and advertising campaigns. don't participate.
I hate those. When they ask me if I have one of their stupid points cards, I want to respond with something like, "Is it too much to ask to just pay for my stuff and get out of here?" I think their idea is to fill our wallets with their crap cards so there's no room for cash... they'll gladly take it off our hands.
I'm pretty sure it's called Itanium. Is "Itanic" you way of trolling?
To me it looks like Opteron is around 8x more cost effective at running 32-bit code
I thought the point was to finally move away from "old" 32 bit code. This 32 bit capability is there for backward compatibility until such time as individuals and companies retire their old 32 bit apps.
Things change. The industry moves forward. This is why we don't all run 486's anymore.
Intel is in trouble.
Let's hope not. Competition is a good thing. Anyone who thinks AMD wouldn't gouge consumers with their pricing if they were the dominant player is naive.
Anyone who has had both will tell you cable is faster and personally I think its more reliable too.
I've had both and I'll agree that cable is faster, but I think the reliability you speak of with your cable provider speaks of the provider, not the technology. Around here, anything is more reliable than Rogers. I switched to DSL from Rogers cable and I'd never go back. Rogers was unreliable and their 'tech support' agents are the most incompetent people I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
Plus new computers always seem much faster, because when people get them they don't have all that spyware and trojans running on it yet to slow them down.
Speaking as someone who works in tech support, let me assure you that it doesn't take them long to slap kazaa on there and then call me because their computer they bought (I am not making this up) the day before is running slowly and they're getting popups when they're not even connected to the internet.
You're jumping to quite a conclusion by insinuating that AC is an Intel employee.
Now I've never had an AMD machine, but I used to have a Pentium MMX on a non Intel chipset and never really realized how unstable it was until I upgraded to a PIII with a BX chipset. That system's been rock-solid.
So my conclusion based on my personal experience is this: You're better off with a chipset made by the same manufacturer as the CPU (regardless of who it is).
I think that the theory exists simply because many of us need to find a way to disprove the Bible, so that they can sleep soundly at night thinking that they will not have to answer for their actions to some supreme being.
I have no problem answering for my actions, and I stilll don't believe in god.
I think religion exists because some people need a sense of belonging, a sense of purpose and a sense that one day the wicked will be punished because they can't handle the fact that life isn't fair.
To me, Christianity is no different than Greek, Roman or Egyptian mythology - neat stories, but nothing more.
We believe atleast as strongly, if not more strongly than most nations, that our ways are the correct ones and we have the right to make others live by those same beliefs.
The correct thing to do is not to force other countries to do things the way you do, but to allow those from other countries that agree with your way to come and live it in your country and to allow those that don't agree to leave.
When I go back to IE I am struck by how many pop-ups I get and I find it maddening, how do you people stand it?
Simple.
The people who have never used anything but IE think it's perfectly normal to either put up with them or download a 3rd party popup killer.
What I don't understand is why they don't seem to believe us when we tell them Mozilla blocks all popups.
If they used Mozilla or Firebird for a week and then went back to IE, it would drive them nuts just the same as it does you and me.
Is that why out of all the throw-away email addys I have, the hotmail one is the one that constantly filled up with spam even before I'd given it out to a single soul?
Seriously.
From the article you posted:
The Pentium 5, if Intel calls it that, will also use Netbust technology.
Yeah, I'm easily amused.
Yes, I'm sure if this was Microsoft all the slashbots would be responding in *exactly* the same way. Hypocrits.
Responding in the exact same way is not hypocritical.
---
hypocrite
n : a person who professes beliefs and opinions that they do not hold [syn: dissembler, phony, phoney]
---
Now praising AOL for it while condemning Microsoft for the same thing would be hypocritical.
Consider learning the meaning of words before you use them. Also note the spelling.
Potentially less. They will be smaller.
Yeah, and CDs were supposed to cost less when they first hit the shelves because they were cheaper to produce.
Some suit will see this as a perfect opportunity to mark them up to line his pockets and the rest will surely follow suit.

What do you think? Is it true philanthropy or just another tactic to assimilate everyone into the MS collective?
/.
Duh, I read
Typical of uneducated Canadians to think only their country has ever had the $2
Perhaps you missed this link that some AC was kind enough to post.
I'm Canadian and I knew that the USA has a few two dollar bills in circulation.
Bad troll! No biscuit!

even when the power goes out, your phone line is still on
...but your computer and DSL modem aren't.
How is that different than cable internet?
Of course, nobody outside the US has a bloody clue what you're talking about
I'm outside the US and I know exactly what he's talking about.
USA != North America

SARS is far more contagious than the other diseases you mention.
Last I heard they still weren't sure if SARS is airborne or not.
I'm pretty sure that's a factor.
censorship, plain and simple
can't have anything contradicting our propaganda, can we?

XP doesn't blue-screen, huh?
Three words...
"Unmountable Boot Volume"

Without spelling and grammar, how are we supposed to understand each other?
It never occurred to me that by "mute" he meant "moot" so in this case it is affecting his ability to communicate in a very real way.
