Do yourself a huge favor: Read this page and everything it links to. Yes, the military interface is a clusterfuck, but you can really do a lot of things with it if you can figure it out. (I still haven't entirely figured it out either; you are most definitely in the majority.) As for discarded items...well, I hope to get back to you on that one day.
Most businessmen *want* their customers to have more money, so they can afford to buy more.
Well, let's go back to the food stamp example. The business in that case is Big Agriculture (Monsanto, Cargill, General Mills, whatever). But who is the customer? It's not the person with the food stamps. It's the source of the food stamps. It's the government. If there are more people in need of food stamps, Cargill gets more money. Directly, in the form of the vouchers, and indirectly, in that the existence of the vouchers props up demand (and thus prices) for their products. Meanwhile, in Washington, politicians who get money from Cargill get more money. Everyone wins, unless you're on food stamps.
Who exactly do you think is "keeping poor just poor enough?" Where did they get that power?
Did I not lay that out sufficiently clearly for you?
Did you watch xFiles too many times when you were a kid? "The truth is out there, and it's keeping us down."
This is the second or third time you've played this card. If the best you can do is try to set up some "conspiracy theorist" strawman to knock down, you've already disqualified yourself from being taken seriously in this discussion.
What the fuck are you talking about? That's exactly the opposite of what we did in Afghanistan. We shoveled arms and money at the mujahadeen for years, because back then they were blowing up Russians. That's where al Qaida came from. Your tax dollars at work. Your comment displays not the slightest understanding of history.
Assuming you are NOT under arrest, and they don't seem to be digging on you (eg "did you see such and such back over there") not being an ass and actually being helpful is the nice and ethical thing to do.
That entirely depends on what they want your help with.
Cops are people too.
Sure they are, but they're also a badge and a uniform and a job. Just as it is within my ethical purview to decide that even though good people work for Wal Mart, I cannot support their mission, it is a perfectly rational thing to determine that even though a police officer may be a good person, I cannot support their mission. I do however agree with you that that is not the only possible answer to that question. There have been times when I've rendered assistance to police, or even called them myself. Other times not.
Now, if you DO have something on you or you DID do something, then you should be careful.
So "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear?"
No, unrealistic to equate "bribing people to not commit crimes" with "making money by keeping poor people just poor enough, but not too desperate." You realize that is what we do, right?
The Republicans and the tea party are far from synonymous. Nor are they the "secessionist nutwad fringe," nor are they the KKK. Because there is some (perhaps much) overlap between some of those groups does not mean they are the same group. That's like saying all Democrats are lesbians.
"everyone needs to vote straight ticket Republican or that evil socialist nigger will take all your money and force your kids to get gay married."
Yeah, and what's he actually done? He's done all the things you're ranting about the Republicans doing. Funny how that works. In 2008, all my Ranty McLiberal friends told me if I didn't vote for Obama, we were doomed to more torture, more war, more executive power grabs, more poverty, more imperialism. And no shit, I didn't vote for Obama, and that's exactly what happened.
"Rethuglicans?" Grow the fuck up. If the current presidential administration has not provided ample evidence that the expansion of power for power's sake, the erosion of civil liberties, and war for profit and distraction are the original bipartisan issues, I couldn't imagine what it would take.
"Rethuglican." Christ almighty, listen to yourself.
1. It's my experience that people who like to toss around phrases like "tinfoil hat" and "conspiracy theory" are hiding from something. "Conspiracy" is a synonym for "plan." If by "conspiracy theorist," you mean "someone who thinks powerful people plan," well, yeah. No shit. How did you think history happens?
2. There's no "conspiracy theory" required in this case. Infiltrating and undermining "anarchist groups" and "domestic terrorists" is what the FBI does. It's their job. In what way do you find this unlikely?
Infiltrating "dangerous domestic terrorist" groups is what the FBI does. There are divisions of the FBI devoted entirely to that. This is someone's only job. It is entirely likely.
And since then several pieces of information (not to mention litigation) have surfaced suggesting that at least some of it was deliberately bad investment advice.
I'm not talking about hindsight, I'm talking about lying.
Kmail does that.
That's a bummer. You're missing out on one of the best, most original games I've played in a long time.

Huh? Therapist runs on Linux.

He only gets to sign or veto bills written by other people.
Since his election, President Obama has enacted no fewer than 91 executive orders.
Bullshit. Where do you live?
If some one creates a way to artifically produce gold on a vast scale, then what?
Then it would be fiat currency. What an absurd line of reasoning.
Can you name any other time where housing prices grew at a rate triple that of inflation?
Go ahead, I'll wait.

If you had access to your FBI file you might not say that.
If you don't care about the story, you're free to move on to the next one. But if you clicked through just to whinge, you're a fucking jerk.
I am an American of Norwegian descent. My thoughts are with you in Oslo.
I'm a Norwegian nerd. It matters to me.
I believe in economics. Learn maths.

Aside from being a shitty way to look at the world, that's also wholly unrealistic. Do you read what you write?
And since then several pieces of information (not to mention litigation) have surfaced suggesting that at least some of it was deliberately bad investment advice.
