Yea, I can DEFINIATLY relate. There is a tejano station that broadcasts in the area that I live in (rural east texas) that bleeds over into the other FM stations so bad that I can't listen to most of the stations that are even local. On a cheap radio the entire dial picks up the station as if it were tuned directly to the station in about a 15 square mile area. Calls to the FCC have done nothing. Luckily I listen to my XM radio or CDs most of the time, but it just really showed me how little the FCC cares.

I've owned a PS2 and an X-Box since they were released and love them both. I mean they both have their pros and cons, but why does everyone feel like they have to put all their eggs in one basket and trash the other consoles? I'm not yet interested in a Gamecube because they typically aim for a younger demographic, but it's still a great system in it's own respect.

By the way, if any of you that have an X-Box are WRC fans you really should pick up a copy of Rallisport Challenge. It's one hell of a great game.

The bit about Sony's part problem is true as well. You wouldn't believe how long I've had to wait on parts from them before.

Apple makes a good solid machine, and if you like the OS I'd get one (although I can't stand the company for personal reasons and their marketing drive me crazy.)

Toshibas and Dells are a mixed bag, but a good cheap route and some damn sexy machines for the price. (Althought I'm starting to see some hardware problems out of Dell.)

Finally, I guess you could say there's a reason IBM charges what they do for their laptops. They're simply the best in the business. It's just a shame that they cost more than some small Korean cars. :)

The only thing that bothers me out of all this is though, is that I know Katz is going to get some of that money, and that REALLY gets under my skin.

Odds are, if you're only willing to buy a 13" TV you probably don't buy enough DVD's (if any) for the movie studios to even care about your portion of the market anyway.

That's exactly why we went with the system I listed above. With a little more than 800 servers scattered around the state we had to have some way of telling what is what, and naming them spock and picard wouldn't even tell us what part of the state they're in, much less the town.

  19. If covering a large area.... on Server Naming Conventions? · · Score: 2, Interesting

If you support a large number of offices like my I.T. group does (state government) the following method works great for us. All normal file servers in our system use this convention. The first two letters are always fs for file server followed by the first two letters of the city in which the server is located and then the first letter of the street it's located on. We add a few characters on the end for other internal tracking purposes, but this covers most of the important stuff. An example of this in use would be FSJAExxx with the x's being extra info. This system has worked great so far on the third largest network in Texas. I know this won't help the poster much, but maybe someone out there can use it.

Maybe I just don't get it, but I never understood why any group of people that make as much money as we do, would choose to wear cheap uncomfortable clothes. Actually do a little shopping at a Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom some time and you'll begin to understand what I mean. Just my $.02 on the matter.
