  5. Re:practical applications? on RFID + Dart gun = DartMail! · · Score: 0

You might could track the bullet down to the bullet manufacturer and the store that sold it. But tracking down to the gun would require that you install a device to actually encode the RFID from inside the pistol. A .45 bullet will fire out of a ton of different pistols.. the bullet itself can be loaded into any ammo size that will fire the .45 round. Also have you ever seen a bullet after impact? Consider that if it's a hollow point the entire front portion of the bullet is mushroomed out and the rear part .. well that's where the explosion happens :-)

Maybe if you put the RFID tag on the tip of the projectile just before it fragments it could shoot inside of the body, but even then it would have a hard time surviving.

And also consider that you could still use old .45s to shoot a new round.. so anyone that's going to use it for crime purposes would either take out the encoder or just use an old .45 (I say .45 because that's what kind I have :-) ).

  6. Citizen Responsibilities? on Online Cigarette Customers Get Bill from State · · Score: 0

I could be wrong here.. but I thought that sales taxes were levied on the individual sale of items onto the business itself and that it was the sole responsibility of the business to collect these taxes and that the business was responsible for paying them. Otherwise the business could easily say that the customer never paid the sales tax and therefore the business couldn't pay it to the state.

So if the state all of sudden wants to charge sales tax on previous sales, it needs to be going after the business in question and not the customer.

Not that I condone this, but I'm just stating that it is the business's responsibility.

The only type of defensive measure that nukes afford the country that uses them are psychological. People don't want any nukes going off for fear of the planet itself and therefore try to get around those countries using it.

You know.. I was kind of thinking one way on the issue, but you have a very good point. The best situation might possibly be to have two boxes. A windows machine strictly for gaming and a linux box for all of your programming, server, etc needs.

  12. But WHEN? on The State of Linux Gaming · · Score: 0

Once the Linux desktop has stabilized to a certain extent, you can expect to see developers turn their energies to better gaming support under Linux.

But my question is when? I mean how long has the linux desktop been around? I mean xfree86 was first ported back in 1989/1990ish.. the KDE desktop in 1996, the gnome desktop in 1997.. I mean it's been around 8 years for the desktops and around 15 years for xfree. How long is it going to take to "stabalize" in order for game makers to begin either porting their code for linux or creating specifically for it.

This is the only reason I still run a dual boot system for the most part is because of the games that I play. Yah, I could use an emulator, but what I really want are games that are made specifically for linux. And unfortunately the unholy m$ has made programming games in windows much easier than in linux with all of their "standardizations".
