I agree, how long ago was it that napster appeared ? five years ?. What has the RIAA done to capitilise on the increased accessibility that the digital age has to offer ? absolutely nothing.

There problem is that they have had so much power for so long long, they have basically controlled the opportunities for people to listen to music (radio, mtv, albums). Now people's listening habits are changing, it is possible to have music with you any time you like thanks to digital technology, possible to have huge personal playlists. All of this is alien to the RIAA, the consumers are suddenly behaving differently to how they have behaved in the last three decades. Whats the solution, give them wat they want or sue them ?...

sci fi isn't main stream anymore. the 4th star trek movie made the most money out of any of the trek movies. Back then in the 80's sci fi wasn't seen as the preserve of the geeky as it is now, you had loads of good cool sci fi (blade runner, terminator, trek 2).

But sci fi these days has a very different image to the mainstream movie going audience. Who can blame them ?, who wants to be associated with some loser who covets fictional blueprints of the starship enterprise.

    Trekkies ruined science fiction.

I kinda agree, I live in the uk but I really got into John Doe last season, it hasn't been shown here (not on terrestial anyway, maybe on sky) I was downloading over the internet.

Now don't get me wrong, JD isn't shakespeare, it is in fact a fairly silly concept for a show. However it was well acted and some of the writing was brilliant (considering the contraints of the show's story).

Anyway, one thing we are not used to in the uk is tv series ending it's run on a cliff hanger when there is little chance of it's return. Maybe it 's because we make 6 shows in a series as opposed to 20+. I can understand why the program makers would do this tho in the compettive entertainment industry of american television. I guess in the case of john doe they were obviously hoping that a cliffhanger would help persuade the network to recomission the show.

But for a viewer it is all just pointless, why did they bother making the show in the first place ?.

    And most importantly....

What did digger have to do with the phoenix group ?

I have a muvo and have to agree with you it is a great little device.

I would like to make another point, obviously in general terms the more storage space the better. However a little does go a long way, my muvo is the 64 MB variety which can barely hold one album at 192 Kbs or above. But there are programs that can downsample an mp3 on the fly as you copy the songs over, the one I use is called DBC PowerAmp. If your listening on a cheap pair of headphones then it really is overkill to have a bitrate of 128 Kbs or more.

For me it has an added bonus, as I am deaf in one ear I prefer to listen to all my music in mono when using headphones (try listening to revolver by the beatles with one headphone to see why). Using mono you can effectively half the bitrate and get similar quality to stereo (not quite as good if the mp3 was in joint stereo). This means I can on average fit just over three albums on my little 64 mb player, add the fact that it is quite hard to find a cd based player that will play in mono then I will take my muvo any time.
