Slashdot lambasted the RIAA device for being the harbinger of even greater FM homogenization and keeping people from hearing new and different music. I this program will do the same thing, but on a personal level and the Slashdot crowd loves it!
I think the aim is to introduce new music to people by seeing what people with similar tastes to you are listening.
You may well be right about the result though, as many people have pointed out the technology needs a lot of work and even then may never be able to take the place of a human ear.
A lot of mp3s are ripped by audiophiles at high bitrates (224 kbps or above), but you can get programs that can reduce the bitrate on the fly (DB Power Amp. 224 kbps is overkill if you are listening on a pair of cheap headphones.
I got the PS2 Network Adapter installed first, popped it onto the back of the machine, and ran the setup disk to configure it. Then I played a game of Madden 2003 online. I scored a touchdown on a tight end slant on the first play, then got one more play at the end of the half (a 30-yard reception to Troy Brown), and then didn't take another snap. Stupid 1-minute quarters. I lost 14-7.
...unless it's cold water and the reactor has a negative temperature coefficient of reactivity....
thats when you apply a tetrionic field inducer and wait for the neutron radiation to build up. then you just use the coefficient of muons reactivuty to counter balance it all.
or even a way to use the heat to generate electricity, maybe the energy in the heat could be used to power the buildings air con and lights (or maybe find a way to feed that extra leccy into the national grid and get a rebate from the power company).
Instead, today's player is just as likely to be a well-paid professional - male or female - aged in their 40s
This shouldn't come as a surprise, geekiness doesn't have an age limit and it makes sense that the people that play subscription based games regularly actually have jobs and make decent money.
There isn't really anything surprising about the demographic that play these games. It also sounds like the guy who carried out the survey is trying to justify the his own "excessive" use of everquest (And he definitely is a geek, check out the pic).
The problem is with tv shows is you never know if they are going to get pulled like firefly did. Did Firefly even make it to 12 episodes ?, tv channels like to plan out their schedules in advance so shows are only going to be sold by the series, not show by show. Thats why we in europe have to wait a year or two (especially for brand new shows).
yes, but firefly isn't alone in the number of tv shows that don't feature muppets. We need to start a campaign, write to the advertisers, let them know that shows featuring muppets get higher ratings.
As somebody already ported out ID were unlikey to port it to the PS2 as the number of comprimises they would have to make wouldn't justify it being connected to the PC version. (Not to start a flame war or anything but the PS2 can't really compete graphics wise with the GC or xbox anymore).
An xbox version would be easy to port due to the fact that it basically a pc and uses directx.
A gamecube version might possibly be worthwhile but it is very different architecture from the PC and Xbox, and chances are that MS will offer up more than enough money than could be realistically made by a GC port.
sell 2 chips, the OEM locked version and the stand alone overclockable version. overclockers happy, OEM consumers not getting ripped off
That would only work if the stand alone version is significantly more expensive than the OEM, otherwise unscrupulous vendors would just buy the stand alone and overclock and resell it as a faster cpu like they are now.
And if the stand alones were more expensive then the overcloskers might get better value from a faster OEM or AMD chip.

Cordless ?, so how/where do I plug it in to the mains ?.
Naughty.
I love the way the register slipped that in on it's own between paragraphs.
I here ya, I had to replace my old nokia 5110 (a complete brick by today's standards). Ended up paying £70 for a 3310.

Or maybe I am still drunk from last night.

Kinda like Farscape. Sci-Fi Licensed season 1 to someone else, until they saw we actually bought the things.
I don't think they do own the rights to any season dvd's, they certainly don't in the releases here in the UK.
In fact that sci fi don't won the rights to DVD's was probably one of the things that helped make up sci fi's mind to cancel the show.
And it was reputedly a very expensive show to make.
reputedly ?, someone is making up words again.
it was too camp for me, like it was trying to capture the same kind of humourous edge that farscape had to it but it didn't really work.
Reading the articles is cheating.
It's easy to get loads of karma by reading the articles and then making well thought out comments about them.
Be a man and do it the hard way.

I'll donate all my money to the little baby orphans.
