not to take this too far, but the sonique gui is about the best i've seen, as far as being both useful, easy, and cool as all hell. Some flash sites are about as close as i've seen (www.globz.com).

The knobs are awesome, click on a knob, move a mouse, seems pretty simple to me. The plugin/skin loading is two clicks (from 'net to screen) and works flawlessly. It's also improved (like all software should, M$) a lot over the past two releases. Still some quibbles, and a couple bugs, but it's a nice microbrew (free beer) and is sooo easy on the eyes.

The masses seem to be content with media being force fed to them by 20-second sound bytes and corporations that (for example) are capable of manufacturing, recording, distributing, and playing the music of an entertainer (for lack of a better word) under one corporate roof.

I was content too, until I grokked the 'Net and learned how to scavenge, gather, and interpret my own information. I think the best course of action is to make sure we continue to have an open and free media source. As more people move to it, the chances for education improve tremendously.

Don't forget the powerful of personal involvement either. I can't count the number of "real" conversations I've had about a wide variety of Internet issues. In almost every instance I have to educate them on what the issue is before I can go into my spiel about what it means. It takes time, patience, and empathy to overcome ignorance and apathy. Be patient, but never stop pushing.

You might make more money with a larger volume and a tighter margin, but that requires a much larger manufacturing/distrubtion infrastructure. This is a very important phrase (if our translation is accurate). I only think that any of this (DVDs,MP3s) is a problem when you try and *profit* from the use of protected media. The only time you are violating the agreement is when you do it for cash. I just don't think, given the Internet and all, that we need to have such onerous protections. Cracking down on the *selling* of protected media is fine, but not for stuff like this. A potential sale is to a real sale as my sperm is to my children. (I have no kids).
