I wish the public media would pick up on some of this stuff.
Public media WILL NOT pick this up. Microsoft and its partners pays for advertising. If you watch any technological article in the media, you will notice they always side on big business.
Our local newspaper sided on H&R Block with the "free" electronic income tax filing all the way last week. They worded it to say H&R Block was the one who gave consumers this wonderful opportunity. Not trying to take it completely away!
To come up with an idea, prevent others from working on it, and to claim all work in the area as their own property. And make claims of future work as well: "more patents to come." Sounds like pirating to me. Microsoft is raping and pillaging the software community.
I wouldn't call LED's an invention. Light emitted by a diode is a common side effect, usually undesirable. Glass diodes have a problem if exposed to light, will generate a voltage like a solar cell. This is bad in audio and RF circuits when you want minimal noise.
Open up a transistor or diode and you can get a few hundred millivolts off the surface. Some diode junctions will transmit a red or infrared light.
Perhaps the way they drive isn't considered 'practical' though.
If that style of driving can get me to work and back, which I think it can, then its practical enough for me. I'm sorry the riding style is not like an amusement park ride.
It's an obvious solution. "In the name of freedom" might be hard to justify, but that's not really stopped the U.S. in recent history.
We are working on that. The RIAA is at work this very minute taking away their freedoms. In about 5 years, Canadians will be begging for their freedom. That's when we move in with our military to protect them. They will be giving up their uranium for free!
So what you're saying is that instead of buying stuff we should all download software and movies from Pirate Bay, because it's environmentally friendly?
Some business models do not have provisions to make it easy to get. The rationale is if its easy to get, there's a perception the cost would be low. Who's going to spend $700 on their credit card to download a bundle of MS software?
You will NEVER see Microsoft offering downloads of their main software groups over the internet.
I work in a metal fabricated building. I'm sure most people do and have no problems with cell phone reception. While this paint may offer significant absorbtive properties, note that NO dBi attenuation ratings are provided. This paint will have to reduce the power level orders of mnagnitude before useable signal becomes insignificant. Remember, radio signal strength is logarithmic.
What you did may be the key. I gave Vonage's Investor Relations a letter about my experiences. The following week is when my bad experiences did a 180 degree turnaround. Everything was resolved.
The only reason why I left Vonage was that one of their competitors offered "anonymous call reject" and other features. I'm sure its a simple script, but surely someone patented these simple ideas. That's why we, the customers, have few choices and have to deal with all this bullshit.
I didn't hate Vonage until I had to deal with their customer retention. I do hate the established phone companies who are trying to protect their turf with silly patents. Its a shameless land grab of popular "ideas."
For me, Vonage had a good service, but they were too aggressive. I also had a well documented case against Vonage. Their service was good in my case, but cancelling was a problem that lasted a year. I quickly learned their customer service were script junkies who didn't have an option for "cancel." I may have been a test case for them to see how far people would take it. I ended up giving my card company a statement and a dispute. Then I called Vonage once again and it got into a long shouting match with many people. One of their representatives made a big mistake. She mentioned a fact I stated "wasn't in the notes." That's when I demanded my request to be cancelled by included (they apparently never had a request from me documented yet.) I kept referring to their notes after that. Finally, I got to get into an assertive discussion with one of their guys who was well versed in procedure. He reluctantly refunded my money for the year of service I didn't use. I gave them my new credit card account and gave my card company an updated statement. In the next few months, Vonage credited my account numerous times. I'm not sure they knew what they were doing. No copies of their notes were ever copied for my records, even though I demanded it numerous times.
A person almost needs a lawyer to cancel from Vonage these days. Apparently, dealing with ANY telephone provider is getting this bad. There needs to be some laws to protect the consumer, otherwise the telephone industry may lose trust.
I'm sure if someone released a bot to turn everyone's computer into a large distributed mp3/dvd botnet, the entertainment cartels might take an interest in fixing our computer problems.
The sad fact is personal computers are too big. Build an energy efficent unit inside the flat panel monitor and we won't need huge bulky cases that put out more heat than old tube type televisions.
Since launching materials in space costs money, why not mine these potential resources and milk them for all they are worth? Lots of iron, water, and other useful minerals can be extracted. Need a radiation and particle shield for the space station? Tow that rock on over there and latch onto it! Those rocks are floating gold mines in space.
Here's a short video of South Park and Ralph Yarro I found....

I'm getting around 82% firefox, 16% IE.
OS platforms are 88% windows, 9% Mac, and nearly 3% Linux.
Are other people seeing this?

I found that reverse biasing a LED with a higher voltage (with resistor, of course,) say 12 volts, they will give out a soft, white light.

The price of blue lasers have come down too.
I wonder how many Ramirez Rodriguez's alone there are out there.....Hell, I went to college with one.
Expect an interview shortly.
Next we are going to have to send the sheep to public schools. And humans are going to complain that they are taking over our jobs.

If it can be done on a 200MHz ARM9 processor in just over a second, anyone else can do it:
