Yes that's my take on it too. When I saw the headline to this story that's what I expected to see.
I know when I was on dial-up most of the time it just wasn't worth the trouble to download anything over 5MB's because it meant hours just to try something out. Now I will find something of interest and it's installed in a matter of minutes.
On a somewhat related note. I'm amazed that all manufacturers of OS's must think everyone is on broadband. I don't think I've had an OS update to OSX lately that hasn't been under 20MB's. I realize that BB is more prevalent now but there's still a large user base that's stuck with a phone line. What the heck do they do?
What cities need to do is stop being held for "reverse ransom." You know... 'You don't build us a stadium we're taking our ball and going someplace else." Which is happening right here in Indy which in turn we did to Baltimore. Our stadium isn't that old either (Hoosier Dome aka RCA Dome). Once cities decide to stop playing their game they'll have to do it on their own.
Unfortunately every city is so hungry for a pro team there'll always be one that figures it worth giving in to them just so they can go out and buy a $150 jersey and be part of the team.
Yikes it's only a game. Nothing more nothing less.
No you're not the only one annoyed. I have satellite (DirectTV) and the first time I saw it scroll I missed the first part of the message and thought it pertained to me. I was about ready to call and raise a fuss. Then I saw it again and realized it was only Dish that was affected. Relief.... then after seeing it over and over....annoyance.
I'm saying Apple charging now for what was once free (I however think it's a fair price). But if you're using iMovie, etc. now then just keep using that version and be done with it. No one says you have to update to the latest versions. If however you want them then pay. Your "freebies" are working so I don't see the problem.
GB is worth the 50 bucks to me alone. All the other stuff is just gravy. And they never gave GB away anyway.
which one should I get? Apple or AMD? I want to access email, surf the web and do a few spreadsheets.
For crying out loud. Grandma doesn't care how many teraglops the whozit can do. Neither does the very VAST majority of users. But I suppose I'll be hearing that "I just have to have one of those 64 PC's. Why? Because they're the fastest!"
or at least if I get the gist of the article, to say Linux isn't as secure as everyone would like to think. Come on if it's out there then someone can hack it. Period.
But defacements? It one thing to say someone took a piss in your front yard. It's another thing entirely to say someone pissed in your living room carpet.
How true. I live in a smaller town but we have digital cable and Verizon is the carrier for phone service. Verizon's response is "Never" even though they brought in fiber lines for the university here. As far a cable goes they said "By September." Great except that was back in March of 2000 they told me that. All I can say is bring it on. I'll pay.
I swear I found that Entourage is faster. Not sure why but the IE update made it very noticeable. As far as IE is concerned I haven't found anything to it. Mine was always rock solid and Silk already handled the smoothing.

Here! Here!

but what's all the fuss about?
Is there something that is being offered by Real that isn't by iTMS?
I would assume that regardless of where you purchase said music it will contain some type of DRM control.
Why don't you guys (Apple and Motorola) get your act together and allow me to sync my Address Book with my Moto V400?
"What's his number again? I dunno but listen to that great Britney mix."
Mod me down for redundancy. I can't think and type at the same time. Or spell correctly for that matter.
I don't think the article has anything to do with the "new" iPod. I'm guessing it has more to do with Apple's dominance in portable music players.
It's the Apple faithful that's freaking about the iPod itself.
All three of us.

Wow you won't even need a "sniffer." You'll be able to smell that from the next city.

"The company will be working with Apple to add support for Microsoft's superior Windows Media Audio"
You had me going until you mentioned Windows Media and superior in the same sentence.

Sheep I tell you. Sheep.

without them having to monitor Usenet groups. Saves both MS and me some time. I'm on Usenet looking for porn.
You can't here from Ork with dead reckoning alone. He had to have some computer experience.
'our customers have seen a lot more innovation from us than they have seen from that [open-source] community'
I guess you really don't have to innovate when things work well from the get-go in open source.
What? So you're saying there's not going to be an iWalk? Surely you jest. Hey I read about it on the internet so it's got to be true..........
