I guess the same can be said for the people that hate Apple. Why would someone that has absolutely no interest in a subject feel so compelled to click the article, read it along with all the comments (so they can pick out just the right one to respond to) and then spread the hate. I really don't like eggplant but I can't remember the last time I trolled an eggplant forum.
The sad part of this is the people that should run OSX won't. The people out there that could really benefit from running OSX for a myriad of reasons won't because it's a hack to do so. The people out there running Windows with full admin accounts, with there wireless point named "Linksys", unpatched systems, etc. Those are the people that should.
Which is it? That Mac HAVE NO ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE!!!? Or that it's available on Linux cheaper? I don't think I've seen a more conflicting post in a while.
While evolution might be your "religion" it's not for everyone. For you to say everyone that doesn't agree with you is an idiot is a bit over the top. I certainly wouldn't debate creationism vs. evolution here. I wouldn't even tell you which way I would believe but I can say that if every scientist throughout the ages was so close minded and unwilling to "see the other" side of things I'd probably still be writing this response to you on a cave wall.
Bigger doesn't mean better. People were buying those rear projection screens back when you needed to be sitting directly in front of them to even see the picture.
If you're out there buying a 70" plasma then you're a enthusiast and obviously PQ DOES count but for the masses? Naw.
Maybe fail is the wrong term to use. And the comparison maybe day and night but for most people SD is "good enough." I don't think the majority of people will care. Most people just want to watch TV and if it comes in clear that's about the only thing they care about.
I'm surprised it isn't advertised that way. I made a smart playlist and all the Podcasts go into it. Sync the Shuffle and I've got a new series to listen to. It's perfect for it. I don't want to keep them. I listen them and I'm ready for more. That alone means I don't need a screen to go through a huge archive.
At 512MB's I can get around ten on there. I can easily navigate to the one I'm looking for. I suppose I'd welcome a screen if the price point was basically close and the size of the unit was nearly the same. But need one? Nope.
And when that day comes. You know the day everything that was FW migrates to USB2 will be a sad day indeed. The reason like the op state "FW400 is THE interface for DV cameras" is because it should be. USB2 just doesn't cut it. Cut outs maybe.
I definitely agree that the next wave of consumer video content has to include porn. However from all I've seen going from VHS to DVD some things are better with a bit less resolution. The first porn DVD I rented I couldn't believe the pimples, ingrown hairs, and various other blemishes that seemed to be "airbrushed" of the inferior resolution of VHS.
whatever the next trend is they better be backward compatible with todays DVD's. If those mooks think I'm buying my whole video library again in a new format they've got another thing coming.
I did it from VHS to DVD which was fairly understandable since most of my video tapes showed their age and DVD did bring a whole new experience with 5.1 sound, interactive content, etc. but I have a HD TV and while I welcome HD content it's not compelling enough for me to want to replace many of the DVD's I own now.
The only problem is some people don't have the luxury of multiple providers to choose from. Right now I'm limited to exactly one "broadband" provider, and I use the term loosely since this is a 512K wireless connection. If for whatever reason my ISP chooses to filter me I have nowhere to go and I'm sure there's many in the same boat.
Luckily my power company is coming online with 10Mbps in a month and cable which is already here (Insight which I find evil even without this content blocking) so my choices are becoming better. But who's to say it won't happen across the board? Are we then down to picking the least offensive?
I'm a professional firefighter and a lot of the guys have started using LED flashlights. I had just purchased my own (out of my pocket and not the city's) rechargeable StreamLight that uses a halogen bulb. When I started seeing the LED's showing up I thought I had made a mistake. They "seem" bright but after seeing them more and more I'm convinced it's just because the light is so white (slightly blueish) and clean.
However even though it looks brighter in fact it's less so and seems to accentuate shadows MUCH more.
I really haven't discussed power consumption with anyone yet but for now........ at least in this application....... I'll stick with the older technology.
Well since we're one upping each other...... I can travel 8mph on my Dixie Chopper ZTR mower while listening to The Battle Of Evermore just fine using my Shuffle.:-)
From what I understand HD-DVD is inferior to Blu-Ray (albeit my limited understanding). So I guess it makes sense that MS is going to be adopting HD-DVD.
No doubt that HD-DVD will win the media war now that MS "picked a side." How unfortunate.
I certainly understand your frustrations using OSX. But to be honest it isn't a Mac-PC thing as much as it is a different way of doing what you're used to doing.
You complaints are an echo of what was on the OSX discussion boards back when people were switching form OS8 or 9 to OSX.
But hell if you can't seem to get past them then yeah it would be stupid to buy into a Mac OS.
I was lucky. I had just bought a Mac when OS9 was released so I wasn't deeply entrenched in the previous OS. I bought 10.0 the first day it was released and haven't looked back.

You could delay the transition and it won't matter there's still going to be people that are caught unprepared. That's just human nature.
The only thing this adds to the situation is more confusion.
While trying this out with Real Player the Purdue team still got a buffering warning.

It's a damn shame.

You want it? Okay you're overreacting.

I'm not sure why there's a big deal about the buildup of greenhouse gases. I thought the hole in the ozone was supposed to vent it off?

It just shouldn't be done period.

I'm not sure I'd want it anyway. I watched "European Vacation" and all the BBC has is 13 channels about cheese. :-)
So now we have designers in the mix does this mean we'll be seeing a "Azure" Screen Of Death?
Well since we're one upping each other...... I can travel 8mph on my Dixie Chopper ZTR mower while listening to The Battle Of Evermore just fine using my Shuffle. :-)

I can't wait for the mandatory Yahoo Advertisement Widget.
Come on now you can come up with something better than that can't you?
Just go to ~(username)->Library->Widgets and drag them out.

Apple fans would only respond "we have Firewire, what use is USB 2.0
I ask myself this question all the time. I haven't been impressed with USB 2 at all.
Of course I haven't been impressed by McDonalds hamburgers either but they've sold billions.
