    It is not that hard.
    The phone company know who they're billing when they complete a circuit. They know who every caller on their network is and what numbers they are assigned. The TELCO should be responsible for assigning the id to the circuit. Not the subscriber.

  3. If I had time, I would write an app that would let me add a number to a list to target for return robocalls. The way it would work is that I get the call telling me that there is nothing wrong with my credit, and I hit a button. From the next week, I return the call every half hour or so, and kindly inform them that there is nothing wrong with their credit either (aren't I helpful).

    This sound innocuous, until you consider that they are bothering enough people who have the free app to have someone calling in every second. The amount of slashdotting will be directly proportional to the number of people they've irritated. And since I'm not using the phone anyway, it is no skin off my nose. Hopefully, with enough calls, their phone system will be rendered useless.

    The moonbase would be much more expensive if you were looking at one trip. Teh benefit of the base comes from using it as a regular port of entry.

    By that logic, it would never make sense to dig a mine.

    There is large capital expenditures in setting up the system to retrieve the resources. Putting a refining and launching facility on the moon would be a major expenditure. But then, raking up the loot strewn about and lobbing it at Earth would be cheap. Basing the analysis on the launch cost per unit weight and cost of the materials is naive.

    Not just the choice of stories, but also how they are framed.

    If Republicans do something stupid, the story is wall-to-wall "Conservative does something stupid".

    When Democrats do something stupid, the story is "Conservatives react to something stupid".

    It even has a name, because the trope is used so much. "Republicans Pounce."

    Once you start seeing it, you will be unable to unsee it.

    If you really believe that, put it to a simple test. Just watch for the "Republicans Pounce" stories. This is where they report on Republicans screwing up. They report on what the Republican actually did. But, when a Democrat screws up...say, the use antisemitic tropes, for instance...then the story is Republicans trying to use the even for political gain...Republicans Pounce.

    I'll wait for your analysis.

    Haha! You obviously haven't paid any attention to all the montages of all the liberal outlet using the exact same wording after the DNC puts out their talking points.

    I think it funny that you believe that AOC is "mild Leftist". Call it what you will. What they want is to take my money so that the politicians can decide who deserves it. In every case where it has been tried to date, the politicians have always decided that it was they and their supporters that deserved it. No thank you.

    And George Stephanopolus (sp?) worked for the Clintons and is now a head reporter at ABC. Journalist have polled at over 85% Democrat and most contribute to Democratic campaigns. CNN's lead report, Donna Brazille, was caught giving Hillary debate questions.

    But, the only thing you can see through your TDS is that President Trump talks most often to the ONLY major news organization that does not actively try to twist every word that comes out of his mouth. Yes, you tried to roll it back a bit in the last paragraph, but this left leaning MSM has been on full display since they tried to cover for Bill's perjury by putting all the attention on his sexual harrassment of an intern.

  13. Regardless of the number of sensors on the plane, the number one / primary instrument should be what is seen out the front window. I would not fly a plane that had an automatic system that I could not override, and I consider it a crime to even sell tickets for such a beast.

    I find it interesting that the whole issue is illogical to the point of lunacy. The same people whining about wage differences are screaming that corporations are greedy psychopaths that would sell their mother for a dime.

    If the said greedy corp could get women to do the work of men for even 1% of the cost, men would not be able to find jobs.

    That would just be the start of the big problems. Where do you land? That is important because:

    - if you're not at the center of mass, your rocket fuel will be spent to make the rock spin.
    - if the spot you land on isn't level with the center of mass, your rocket will point in the wrong direction, and your rocket fuel will be spent to make the rock spin.
    - if the spot you land on isn't flat your rocket will fall over
    - if the spot you land on isn't solid, your rocket will fall over
    - if the spot you land on doesn't have solid mechanical attachment to most of the rock, it'll break apart.

    The asteroid is probably mostly rock, instead of the ice that comets typically have. But, having the bombs detonate at a distance in order to repeatedly blow (puff) at the comet will speed it up or slow it down eventually. Also, to escape two dimensional thinking, moving the orbit out of the solar plane would also make it much less likely to ever come near the Earth again.

    Or, just detonate a series of explosions in front of or behind it. Make sure the explosions are far enough away for the blast radius to cover the entire object. The goal being to spread a smaller force over the entire object to speed it up (moving it's solar orbit out), or slow it down to make sure it is removed from Earth's orbit either way.

    We already have ICBMs that carry multiple warheads. The technology should transfer. Easily. Right?
