    We should mobilize for defense not attack. That we can do allready by taking our democratic rights of openly disapproving of such bullshite, informing peers about the situation, do not buy from too large global companies, vote a party that has a clue, let stoopid suppliers and ISPs dry out in the sun etc.

    1. Dumb terminals are needed for specific applications like selling tickets or such.
    2. A long commitment is good in a world where
    ppl do not change stuff for the fun of it but because they want a computer to work not evolve at

    I have to agree. It is just like the similarity between tools and weapons. U can use a hammer a word a computer a genome or whatever in a fruitful
    creative way. u can also use all these things to control, destroy, dominate beautiful beings. But there is nothing inherently bad in these things. Some ppl just look for simple solutions for complex problems and solve the simple problems in a complex way.

    If u buy a "Bahncard" from the german train company (Deutsche Bahn). They digitize ur photo.
    Once you prolong the card u get a new one with the pic on it. A friend of a colleague called them to erase the pic and give her a card without one. They replied affirmative. Two months later the new card came with the pic on it. Nice huh? I personally have no problem with my picture being stored on a harddrive. But if anybody desires that this not be done, a company should not lie and then still fuck around with personal information.

    If u know the Unix Siemens sells and the microsoft Unix expertise just imagining that product makes me laugh. Siemens is (in my experience) very heartless in their Unix product and they never heard of stuff like File System Hierachy Standard and such. Mixed with the experience of microsoft considering OS-Installation Scripts. Would make a nice leetle cocktail. Than God it is a hoax. Har Har

    Did Java really want to rule the world? Has nobody realized that Linus Torvalds is joking. Only madmen and waterheads want to rule (or buy) the world. Others realize that fair competition and cooperation between equal competitors can be fun and very fruitful.

    Strange, SuSE has done some of what he advises already. (Even though they have not yet GPLed their setup tool). And I think they will go public after the internet stock market crash. Why hurry when time and the sun solves problems by themselves? Now pleaze don`t flame me about liking SuSE.

    He just should not isolate himself too much, like Billy Boy does. Or he will loose contact ..
    And putting up a shield is a sign of war (even though a defensive one :-)). A war with many fronts that should not be startet by the looser.

    Free the slaves and identify the ppl who use the powers of others for their own gain. (Enslaving Scientists, Kids in Mines, Streetworkers in Prisons etc.). If u all give them less money, they will dry up naturally. And get addicted to smiling not fear.

    Can i quote u and ask u to read before u answer?Id did not mean that mozilla is written in java but that it will fulfill the purpose of an open source standard compliant platform independent web browser. I did not say that Mozilla will take over the world - it is just another dinosaur like IE. They will coexist but the better tool for the job, surfing the web, will stay longer. I think Java is too slow at the moment for coding a decent fast webbrowser. And i really do not care a fuck about u being better or worse than me - once u stop putting people into castes of better and worse u will feel the power of ur peers. Once u have written the IE version for linux i can start smiling at ur childish babble. if u want to flame some more - do it.

    Actually I am sitting in front of an "New Technology" Box right now. With an X Server giving me my Linux desktop. I know both worlds probably better than u do. If a company puts out a lowest common denominator app they run the risk of reaching all of the audience and keeping their programms small efficienet and not bloated. Mozilla is the real Javagator and that will eat your bundled shit. The Customer will chose, when given alternatives. And speaking of performance, have u ever seen how long it takes for Word to start up on a 133 Pentium, har har.
