"One wonders why these literal rocket scientists didn't just get a software programmable Linux or PalmOS based wrist-computer and hack together a Mars-time display application into it?"
Maybe because they don't want to waste their time making a watch, and would like to focus on the Mars mission? No, that can't be it.
This is a very good point... Now my thinking could be wrong, but when MailBlocks "patented" their idea didn't they have to *prove* they were the first to come up with it/it didn't already exist? Thats how I thought patents worked anyways.
Well, according to MailBlocks: "...founded in July 2002 by Phil Goldman, a former Microsoft vice president and a founder of WebTV. "
Is the gain really worth it anymore? I still have an old 1ghz laptop. I use an ancient 333mhz desktop. My server is an extinct 133mhz. I'm all for the "I'll do it because I CAN" attitude, but wasn't overclocking originally for serious benifit? Like 100 - 133mhz? Thats a 33% increase. 2.8 - 3.3 is only about 2%.
How many times do we have to hear that the Xbox runs linux? It ran the linux kernel - L-i-n-u-x. Of *course* is going to run EVERY gosh darn *linux* distribution! Are we going to list ALL the distributions, ONE by ONE? Do we even KNOW them ALL?
What happens when "Driver On Demand" trys to get a driver for my network card, but it can't, since my network card needs a driver? :-P
Don't worry, come this time next year you can higher me and my computer science degree...
That's because they're dead!

Last time I checked HTTP is port 80, and POP3/IMAP aren't.

And according to ASK (Active Spam Killer): "© 2001-2003 by Marco Paganini"
In other words, Earthlink is not infringing on any "ideas" any more than MailBlocks!!!
