Usually all the work you do using your employer equipment becomes property of your employer. So far it has always been like this, unless explicitly decided -with- your company. We provided bugfixes and add-ons to opensource projects where I used to work before, but such contributions always required approval from the management. Personally I think it's quite fair and that is quite legitimate.
Especially after the introduction of C# which given its syntax should have been called J# to say the least. It's a clear attempt to drive java developers to C# (especially since.NET framework continues is available in Visual Studio.NET for the "legacy" languages C++ and Visual Basic). Ofcourse as usual they also embedded 1000 excuses why C# and.NET is not like java but the real intentions is still pretty clear to me.
Its funny the idea of asking money for what is essentially a bulletin board which most of the content is provided by their intended customers:) Plus 5$ for 1000 views it's expensive and you dont even have porn.:)
Microsoft has too strong political support to be touched, it's sad but they have let them go too far and I doubt this monopoly is gonna stop anytime soon. This further suit seems to be aimed to squeeze a few extra bucks before disappearing more than fixing this situation. I think this giant monopoly it's sad because we lost a lot of the variety of choices we had in the past, monopolies kill creativity, initiative, and in the end they end up damaging the economy. Ofcourse until the political class will be composed by individuals who think about screwing Enron stock holders, and to spend public money to finance the weapons industry in exchange of a personal benefit, all this sounds useless, to say the least.

Seriously, provided that computing resources, storage and bandwidth becomes free that's the future. But until then i'm not letting any pharmaceutical company to use my connection, cpu, or storage, and im not storing "encrypted fragments" of anything else that my own stuff, i will go on doing my backups on cd-roms.
It's a fictional movie. And it's sad that Jon Katz aknowledges that reality superceeds fiction just when they hit his golden home and his two precious skyscrapers or his precious Black Hawk, in the last sixty years we had an holocaust and 2 atomic bombs released on civilians, and it requires a very high level of ignorance of egoism to say what Jon Katz just said. If Slashdot has to publish cinematographic critics at least hire a critic not an idiot with no clue about movies and just political opinions.
Seriously, i dont know.NET deeply but i have the impression that writing applications on Linux that use Mono based on.NET it's a bit risky license-wise. GNOME was born because KDE was based on QT , that had a commercial license, and now it's good to use.NET ? Can someone clarify what kind of lincense does.NET have ? I think it's a key point.
Good then we will all use your friend's server :)

Are you talking about J++ or about J# . I can't find any J-sharp...

Leisure Suit Larry brought back to his undeformed form of Larry 1-3, and in SVGA (especially Larry 3)

Makes me want to develop a .NET application today!
