I think we should lobby the US congress for mandatory posted lyrics, by the record companies themselves.
After all, what better way would a parent have of knowing what his/her child is actually listening to than by reading the _actual_ lyrics at an official website.
Great! I use a Mac mini as my primary computer... so I'm not really worried either, but I have plenty of family members and friends that I am creating awareness of this issue for.
I'm telling people to actively not purchase Sony CDs.
Another good way to prevent salespeople from taking your power supply is to remove the top cover (thus breaking the warranty seal) and then beat on the top cover with your ball peen hammer.
Then put it back on.
Power supply still works, but it looks like crap. No way they're gonna sell that to a customer.:-)
The consumer is as big a victim as the company that (ostensibly) lost out on a sale.
Huh?
Their "official" T-Shirts/Caps/whatever are magically better than the counterfeit ones?
Do you realize how stupid that sounds?
I don't think the consumer, who paid maybe $5 for a fake Nike/NFL/whatever article is complaining when the same (or very, very nearly) stuff sells for $20+ in "official" stores.
Sure, some counterfeit stuff is made much cheaper -- but as a consumer, you can examine it before you buy it, right?
Yes, but my point still stands... if Apple had bought Konfabulator, Apple's widgets could go on the desktop without a third-party plug-in... and without having to dance around the "Large vendor kills small vendor's shareware app" problem.
Except that 800ms pings is unacceptable for gaming, and 100kbps happens so rarely it might as well not... oh yeah, I'm on teh satellite interNot.
Also, take a look at their handy Fair Access Policy -- don't let yourself get FAP'd... or your connection slows down to about 2kbps: http://fairaccess.direcway.com/
So setup your file shares on a Linux box instead of a Windows box and simply enable afp.
I have never had one of my afp shares drop off randomly.
I just had to comment on your sig.
"Libertarians are really properly called propertyarians and when push comes to shove value material things over liberty."
Except that one of the tenets of Libertarianism is that we "own" ourselves. Thus the liberty.
If you don't own yourself how can you possibly ever have Liberty? If you don't own _any_ property, how can you have Liberty?

Dammit! I left my webcam on again, didn't I? :-)

Huh?
Sony rootkit, hello, McFly?
Except that, as Sony is proving, we can't afford to buy the CD!
Well, not if it's gonna infect our computers. And how can you tell beforehand which ones do and which ones don't?
So basically, Sony is forcing us to not buy CDs.
How long until the rest of the RIAA companies follow?
Umm, no.
5. Cheap computers are flaky and break a lot.

You have to specify, man!
These laptops aren't going to be cheap, they are going to be inexpensively mass-produced ruggedized computers...
...that run linux, an OS that doesn't crash a lot.
The sad part (from Microsoft's angle) is that they didn't buy Yahoo five years ago.
And so what about invalidating the money they've spent so far... if it wins them the market, it's still a great investment.

Geez, where's the "+1 Snob" rating when you need it?
Bad form and all, replying to myself, but...
Amnesty is $20. If Yahoo hadn't just bought Konfabulator and made it free... maybe.
So, Dashboard widgets in their place, and Konfabulator (now free) on my desktop.
Yes, but my point still stands... if Apple had bought Konfabulator, Apple's widgets could go on the desktop without a third-party plug-in... and without having to dance around the "Large vendor kills small vendor's shareware app" problem.
Thanks for the linkage, though. I'll try it out.
It's just too bad Apple didn't do this. I mean, Dashboard's cool and all, but some widgets just work better _on_ the desktop.
That's why I still carry both. And an iPod (2nd Gen 20GB) to boot.
My next DVD player is gonna be a Myth box.
'Nuf said.
Shouldn't that be...

Oh... and GMail rocks!
Seconded.
But the Palm OS plugin makes it nicer.
Would that make you smell like Axe?

All this can be yours for only $100/month _with_ a 15 month contract!!

Maybe by the time my contract is up in Sept, something decent will be in my area.
