On top of that, I don't have to worry about spending money on getting [extraneous game peripherals/hardware add-on] to enjoy additional functionality that should have come with [your favorite console] to begin with!

In addition to that, [delayed MMO] will be coming out soon and will pwn [your favorite console], and you know that's what everybody is going to be playing anyways. [your favorite console] is dying, [netcraft/sales in japan/competiton from other console platform] confirms it.

That's OK. The new Mac systems will be coming out in January, and that combined with EA's renewed commitment, plus id Tech's "Engine 5" or whatever will put even your weak Vista gaming PC to shame!

That's mostly what I love about the iPhone. The awesomeness of it's sync.

Might as well call it WindowsNext... rather than 7, I mean... If you follow the 9x tree it's:

Windows 3.1, Windows95 (4), Windows 98 (5), Windows ME (6), Windows XP (7), Windows Vista (8). Each of these being major upgrades.

If you follow the NT tree it's:

    Windows 3.1, Windows NT 3.5, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 (5), Windows XP (5.1), Windows Vista (6).

So it kinda depends on which numbering scheme you use... but MS can't keep their numbers straight anyway!

Why don't they just pull an Apple and port the Windows GUI to BSD?!? Morons.

    Whatever. That's crap.

Twice in the last three weeks I've re-installed Windows XP on computers that have had NO HARDWARE CHANGES! They were only being re-installed due to viruses and spyware. The CD-Key that's on the back of the computer didn't work!

See, these computers (one from Sony, one from Compaq) came with no recovery disc, and were both Pre-SP1. Oh, and since the CDs that would have come with the computer were SP1, and Sony/Compaq (HP) don't distribute them anymore, but also won't replace the media with SP2 media...

So, when you install, legally, from an XP SP2 OEM CD that you already own, and use the CD-Key on the back of the computer, that you paid for, and it still won't activate automatically... because the only OEM CD you have is XP SP2, and those computers shipped with a Pre-SP1 CD-Key... and then you have to call someone for permission to install?!? That's crap, no matter how "easy" it is.

Oh, and when you call, after the "automatic" internet-based validation has failed, you still have to wait for Microsoft's (friendly) automated phone system to repeat back to you that activation has failed before it will let you talk to a human. That's crap.

Once that's all through, the human on the other end cheerfully "verifies" that I'll tell him what he wants to hear, and goes ahead and activates the copy of Windows.

    Wow.

The whole point of the iPod was that you could listen to all of your existing mp3s -- and then buy your new music from the iTunes Music Store.

Oh, and by the way, iTunes really makes it easy to rip your own CDs, even if you hadn't already created your own mp3s. And it even supports converting to mp3 out of the box. Of course it's set to Apple's AAC format rather than mp3 by default, but hey.
