How is this not moderated as troll? I can only imagine if the same things were said about linux on slashdot. The poster doesn't even explain why Microsoft will
Micro$oft and its ilk rot in hell, stewed in their own juices, which they most certainly will.
So many of you complain about how stupid and obious the April fools day jokes on slashdot are. But do you remember your first April fools day with Slashdot? I do. I belived at least 3 posts. I know pretty stupid of me, but ill bet they got some slashdot first timers today.
I wouldn't be so fast to deem this a waste of money, even if this project doesn't create some superman suit, think of how many millitary technlogies have ended up to benifet civilians in the end. Anyway I think its hard to deny the powerfull benificial effects modern technology has had on the US military. The next big thing has to start somewhere, and very often its a big fat check from the pentagon.
When ign (the internet videogaming network) first started it was my favorite site for video game info. Than maybe a year back, maybe more there was a post very much similar to one on slashdot, informing IGN's readers they were launching a pay service. It wasn't to remove ads, it was supposed to have features and extras that would be added while keeping the same level of service for the free readers. After this, the pretty soon the news stories for the non-pay users became less and less frequent. Pretty soon they began to take away things the free users had like, the message boards. Needless to say, I don't read IGN anymore. What worries me about this slashdot subscribtion is the extras that might be offered to the subscribers, how long before some slashdot "features" become insider extras. Not to mention the nagging to subscribe like IGN.
Apple can't release a successful os without two things: Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. If Apple was planning to hit microsoft on the Intel desktop market, I think it is unlikely microsoft would be willing to port these two things to OSX for intel, as much as i'd like to see it happen.
Well look to the past, the original star trek was canceled for years before the many letters of fans ressurected it. I doubt however, that a web petition will mean anything, writen letters have a much better chance.
Sounds a lot like a troll to me.
People are paying for slashdot. Like it or not, the april fools pranks are part of slashdot. They get what they pay for.

Anyone remember the New Hamshire state motto? Im not suggesting that we die, just that we are sure to live free.

Could he have mentioned his own website any more? Talk about taking advantage of slashdot.
Yes. I knew that was going to happen so I told it to start recording the X-files 5 minutes early, yes!
I dissagree google does not suck 97%, it deffinatly finds what I want very often. I suggest you give google another chance.
Ha! It took me untill I read this comment to realize it wasn't an OS designed to deliver spam faster. Ha Ha.
