Alright now I have to speak up. I live in north jersey and no one here speaks without the "r", in fact ive never even heard that. What we do do though is turn some "a"s into "o"s. Ex: its not tomato its tamato. Looks weird on print but it sounds right to me.

About the newark thing, some of jersey does look pretty damn shitty, but if you go west, belive it or not, there are farms, with real cows. I live in a pretty rich area and I think its beatiful here. Belive it or not, I love NJ!

I guess that shows me how far Ive come in the last few years. My first non-win install was redhat 5.2(i think) that was a bitch but then again I was 13. Now I breezed through an openbsd install so easy, I can barely remember it.

Axe the cd-rom and the floppy? How the hell do you plan on installing shit? External, maybe but than you loose portablility and anyway im pretty sure a floppy/cdrom drive don't eat power when their not in use, so if one never uses them, it will be the same as if they are not there.

  7. DVD-Audio and SACD on More on DVD-Audio and SACD · · Score: 1

I love audio. I have noticed a lot of negative posts bashing SACD and DVD-a. Belive me, I know what I am talking about. DVD-a and SACD do sound better, much much better than cd. Yes, I have heard them both. No, the audio track on an sacd or dvd-a is not the same quality as a DVD movie, it is much better. Did you know that 3 minutes worth of Dolby Digital audio on a DVD movie only takes about 15 megs? I know, I rip dvds all the time. To me, a CD sounds flat, and don't even get me started on MP3. Don't bash the two formats becuase you think they are just trying to get you to buy copy protection, the DO sound much better.

  9. the Name of an OS on FSF Issues GNU/Linux Name FAQ · · Score: 1

I have noticed that an OS is usually named for its defining feature. This is seen in Windows (back in the day, having windows was a big thing), MacOS (it runs on a mac) and others. The GNU project is definetly not the defining feature of Linux. It is the powerfull, fast and stable kernel that makes Linux famous, not the mundane yet important utilities that GNU provides.
