Then again, shouldn't expect better from an Anonymous Coward.
And for the record, I am libertarian. Which probably means that by comparisson, the stupid socialist fuck in this discussion would be you. Why am I not surprised?
As someone has probably already pointed out, they should chose the best tools for the job, that give the best price/performance ratio. If that happens to be Linux, good for ya. If it happens to be MS, too bad.
Additionally, claiming MS and/or closed source software is "Anti-democratic" is just as lame as MS were when they claimed the GPL was a cancer.
Slanderous, misinformed statements like these, from either side, are the last thing needed.
As if the renders weren't enough to prove it, how about this little tidbit from the "infrared watch" page:
"This page is under construction
In a few days we will present a complete new type of watch.
This watch will communicate with other similar watches and
send virus to each other."
Run a whois on the domain. The registrants adress's don't match up with what's on the site, and the site is hosted in sweden. So I suppose it's just a swedish mockery of the norwegians..:-)
>but there's no speaker in the machine, so what
>good is it?
Well, there's no speaker, but with an adapter you can plugin some headphones. I tried this, but I never got it to work very well. There were some programs that supported it though.
Or, one could go the "un-eleet" way and use MS software.. I had a win2k server standing in the closet for a while (took it back to work eventually, the bandwidth at home was too low to use it remotely anyway) and used Terminal Services to log in and rip cds in the background. Just dumped the uncompressed music to a share on my mp3-box (linked to the stereo of course). Went real fast and easy, and all in the background, while playing Counter-Strike..
:-)
Look at the computer in the photos... that box sure looks quite nice. Is it part of some sort of special dev-kit, or how does one get a chassis like that? I want one..:-)
I just can't stand this self-righteous know-it-all attitude European supremacist attitude anymore. (Note: I'm European myself. But i still frickin' hate that attitude thing).
Now, let's get one thing straight: Microsoft is not the devil. Hurting Microsoft is not a goal in itself. Their products are damned fine, and I say this, not because I work for them or anything like that (never had, never would), but because I use their products on a daily basis, and so do the other 45 users on our MS only-network here at work.
Sure, if we were all sysadmins, some sort of Opensource OS might match our needs better, but for most people MS Software is simply the only alternative. No, none of the window managers and office kits for linux is even nearly comparable today. Unfortunately, because I wish they were, but thats the way it is.
Most of the slashdot crowd seem to dislike MS because of the fact that they produce good software that so far is unmatched by linux software. This is a childish attitude to have, and in the long run, won't earn you a thing.
If you HAVE to hate MS, hate it for their business practices when it comes to dealing with OEMs and such, because that's where the moral dilemma is at. That's where they've time and time again fscked up, and that's what we need to do something about. Not that they happen to bundle IE with Windows.
This has been around for a while, methinks. My 2 year old Compaq Presario has two firewire ports. Using W2k or WinXP, the firewire ports show up as network interfaces in the device manager. Don't know about linux though (I wouldn't want to try anything but windows on this box, considering that it's stuffed to the brim with nonstandard compaq components).
Never tried it though, and besides, what would one use it for, considering the limited bandwidth? Besides, most computers come with 10/100 ethernet these days..
How about taking just any old USB mouse you have lying around?
You really have no clue, do you?

How about if americans in general stop renaming every place they can't be bothered to pronounce right? Nurnberg, NOT Nuremberg.
And yes, the anti-abortionists are sick fucks.

Check out the discussion boards. The thing is running on a 56k modem! Gowd damn that's a /. ! :-)
It's people like you who give Linux a bad name. Lay of the crack and try to act like a sane person. Thank you.
Correction: the domain is hosted in sweden. The actual site seems to be on a norwegian server. That's what I get for posting too fast :-)

Hmm... Windows Media Player? Oh, you said opensource... well, then I dunno :-)

if RMS got to decide :-)
At the bottom of the article:

Funny thing is, that if the article in question had been generated by a shellscript or something similar, the above notice would be _quite_ invalid

Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar - Though I have no clue as to how one pronounces that in his native tongue (Hindi?)
Rather interesting fellow to read about actually..

But I guess it'd make a fun experiment..
