Let's talk about moral right and wrong - ARC made an agreement to use the red cross symbol as a non commercial thing. They are now using it commercially. That seems morally wrong to me.
Hmmm apparently slashdot doesn't work either - they give you a link to the article, expect you to read it and then make comments on it.
it's in the frickin' third paragraph...not like you have to read more than 10 sentences...
AmieStreet.com is the first digital music store propelled by social networking, where members of the community drive the discovery, promotion and pricing of music. All songs on AmieStreet.com start at a price of zero cents. As more people download a song the price rises, capping at $0.98.
Okay - I couldn't resist. Apple.com, click the big thing that says iPhone (at this point there are at least 3 things that say activate using iTunes) then click the Activate using Itunes on teh right hand side and read the PRESS RELEASE:
System Requirements iPhone activation requires an Internet connection; an iTunes Store account or a major credit card; a valid Social Security number (as required by AT&T); the latest version of iTunes available at www.itunes.com and a PC or Mac with a USB 2.0 port and one of the following operating systems: Mac OS® X v10.4.10 or later; Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later; or Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise or Ultimate Edition. iPhone requires a new two-year AT&T service plan. Customers with existing AT&T accounts will have the option of keeping their existing phone number and upgrading their account to work with iPhone. See separate iPhone Service Plan press release for further details.
And while I am here:
In addition, arguing that because one product doesn't have easily replaceable batteries another product wouldn't have them either is not entirely logical.
It's about as logical as assuming because one mobile phone has replaceable batteries, all of them must.
I don't think that in this case anything is being searched, nor seized. Recording a publicly viewable plate doesn't seem to be unreasonable search, although if they tried to implement this in New York in the future, they'd probably need a permit.
Now I don't agree that this is a good thing, but you'd better come up with a better amendment than that.
The RIAA needs to tell the students nothing before sueing them. The only problem is that they only have an IP Address (or perhaps MAC ID) not a student's name. Presumably the university has that address to name mapping thus can forward the letter addressed to the IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to the appropriate student.
This letter has nothing to do with potential court case - you don't have to warn someone that you are going to sue them. As some have mentioned, it is akin to extortion - give us money or we'll sue.
So if it isn't worthwhile to buy a used iPhone for $300 based on the price of a new iPhone, then the market will dynamically adapt and the price of used iPhones will be less...
Just to put things in perspective - let's assume you get a new battery for your phone every year (I think I realistically get one every 14-16 months)...paying $50 or $90 for a battery is going to make absolutely zero difference to me )and most people who are paying $500 for a phone and over $50/month for service) so who cares?
Hmmm - saying it it's as simple as apt-get update-all would almost be as moronic as stating that linux is even harder to keep patched automatically. Seems pretty much the same to me - click the automatically check for updates/automatically install security updates boxes.
One of the nicest features of Ubuntu Linux is the automatic update feature, which helps you keep your computer updated with the latest software and security updates. There's also a nice GUI tool that helps you configure how often updates are checked, and can even automatically download the new updates.
I wonder how pollution will affect the quality of the produce. I do know there's a vineyard in Commerce City, Co in the shadow of a huge oil refinery and it makes some great wine.
The next thing you know, we'll be trying to grow plants in the feces of cows, sheep and chickens!!!
I don't think you understand what tabs are - most tabs include the chord progressions and the exact notes being played by the guitarist (or guitarists) in the background, the cool little riffs and sometimes entire solo's.
I'm in no way agreeing that listening to a song, and telling a friend (or a million friends) that 'these are the notes that guy played, in this order' is wrong (or illegal), just that your description of what is being removed is wrong.
Use Gmail if you don't want to set up your own filtering system.
That's funny, I use gmail and my spam directory fills up with junk emails every day. Once in a while a legitimate message ends up there as well. This at best is a workaround, not a solution.
Since when is an 'owner' of a MAC in 'competition' with Microsoft?
I use Windows here at work - I don't consider myself to be in competition with Apple.
I own a Yamaha motorcycle. I don't consider myself to be in competition with Suzuki (ok, maybe at the occasional red light if there happens to be a Suzuki next to me)
I'm guessing for every one of you, there are a thousand people who just won't care.
Will the advertisers care if they are advertising to one less person per thousand? Nope. Thus will Google care? Nope.
Bye - don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.
cost for easy integration with iTunes?
This has nothing to do with anti-trust - they could annihilate AMD and any other chip maker, as long as they don't do it via 'prohibited conduct'.
Making a better product is not a 'prohibited activity'.
There was apparently a fix for it, simply by downloading a program, but really, who looks for updates to their hard drives?
:)
I'm guessing you do now...
Apparently if you up to into any region at all the wave will interfere with the humour centres in the brains of geeks everywhere.
you are right - it should not be patented. That's why it's a trademark, not a patent.

reminds me of the old saying:
"those that claim it is impossible should stay out of the way of those that are doing it"

How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie-roll center of a tootsie-pop?
I believe it is three licks and one crunch, according to the wise owl.
and since no one is going to tolerate ads on their MythTV, or pay for the service, this is unlikely
No-one is willing to pay for the service? I would be willing to pay a reasonable price ($50/year???) in order to get TV listings for MythTV.

I have more than 6 speakers in my frickin' car. Should I turn myself in?
I feel so dirty now...
Our kids understand that the use of those words simply is a sign to people of how dumb and inarticulate you are.
Do you also teach them not to judge a book by its cover, and how generalizations and prejudice are wrong?

'Master of the World' says that travelling at 200 mph makes you invisible, for instance.
Have you ever seen me traveling at 200 mph? Perhaps it is because I WAS invisible...

I can't think of a worse way to treat a customer.
:)
Technically if you canceled your account, you are no longer a customer
