Call me old school, but the nice thing about albums (and then CDs) was that you could buy one for a specific song or two and then be turned on to other good songs. Maybe not the first time through, but some songs grow on you after listening to them a few times. Maybe you miss some clever lyrics or great guitar licks the first time through--especially if you only listen to the first few seconds of a song. That's what I see being lost in the one-song-at-a-time purchasing paradigm: exposure to more than the most popular songs by an artist. I didn't like much of Gov't Mule the first time I listened to their live double album, but now I really enjoy the whole thing.
I was missing a Quicktime plugin for Firefox on my Windows box and it fetched the iTunes installer. Are they bundling Quicktime with iTunes now, so you need one to have the other? (No, I didn't bother to hunt down a Quicktime-only installer. By that time, my attention was elsewhere. So it could have been an issue with Firefox's plugin finder.)
Thanks for the tip. Basically, I just want something I can host on a Linux box so that me and a couple of geographically-separated friends can do some good old D&D-type RPGing!:) Text-based is even acceptable (MUD?), so long as we can all play over the 'Net. And if I can customize my own adventures, that'd be even cooler! I could *try* to roll my own--if I can figure out how to do it in perl....
..what is available *now* in the server department for running small gorups of friends through a D&D-type setting? I'd like to build a Linux box, load it with an OSS RPG server game that my friends can connect to via a web client (so it would run on most any platform)? I don't need anything approaching EverCrack, but hopefully customizable and being continually improved.
And I don't have the skillz nor the time to roll my own...
Yeah, I still almost exclusively use pen-and-paper to build recipes and log brewing sessions. The latter is what I would find most helpful in brewing software. Prost!
Do you use ProMash or qbrew? I'd like to use ProMash, but then I'd have to boot into Windows and I don't want to do that. Qbrew is nice but lacks many of the features that makes ProMash such a great tool. I'd like to help code it, but it's not written in perl.:)
We've been using SuSE's SLOX for a while and while Outlook connectors exists (OSLOX, ISLOX), they are basically syncing tools. It would be a semi-transparent cutover, but I don't think this newly GPLd groupware (similar, but different) supports such a connector....
So instead of simply ignoring the article, you felt compelled to post about how it is not news to you? That makes a lot of sense--about as much as my replying to your trollish post...
Even though I am an atheist, I must disagree with what you say. The revelation only refutes a portion of the Judeo-Christian(-Muslim?) tradition of the creationism story (which could easily and eventually be modified and bent to the new evidence). But in terms of philosphies, especially in regards to how we treat one another and our surroundings, abundant life in the universe is a non-issue. Other religions like Buddhism aren't touched by the news either.
Yeah. Check out the Red/Green/Blue Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. One of the interesting things was the bacteria and molds that the scientists hid within some of the probes to "seed" Mars. And in defiance of some of their collegues that wanted a pristine Mars.
Actually, I included several that aren't West Coast beers. Here in poor old Iowa, we can't even get some of the good stuff--especially anything over 5% ABV. If you can ship me a case of Bigfoot, let me know!
Except the fools that like Heineken, St. Pauli Girl, Pilsner Urquell, and other gree-bottled beers, because they *expect* them to taste skunky because they've never tried it any other way! Why any brewer in his right mind would use green (or *gasp* clear) glass bottles for their beer is beyond me! Between that and the long time they sit on a warm shelf in the liquor store, bombarded by bright flourescent lights, it's no wonder it tastes so shitty. The best Heineken I ever had was from the tap in Amsterdam. And now, even more precious cooler space is lost to these "malt-beverages" that are so popular these days, leaving more good beer to sit and go prematurely stale, causing consumers to get the wrong impression of the beer and never buy it again, causing the store to quit carrying it. </soapbox> It drives me to drink, I tells ya!
Hey gimme a break. It was an honest mistake. I wasn't trying to be inflammatory. Altho now that you mention it, I'm glad our judges and lawyers don't have to wear silly wigs.:)
IANABL, but isn't it "guilty until proven innocent" in the UK? That puts the onus on the defendant vs. here in the US where it is "innocent until proven guilty," with the burden of proof on the prosecution. A significant difference--in theory anyway....

Shout out to my Cowon brothers and sisters! Any X5 owners in the house? Say "Yea-ah!"

They will obviously shoot to be competitive with other music download services, like iTunes, doncha think?
...then happy freakin' birthday, young whippersnapper! Buy that man a beer or six! In fact, make it a case of barleywine! Woo-hoo!

I had to double-check it wasn't April Fool's Day, October 4th (roughly 6 months later) or some obscure saint of mirth's day....

In communist China, government blogs YOU!
Of course, I haven't read the article, but I'd rather have choices than Big Brother Bill spoon-feeding me what He thinks I need!

Or a Double Bastard!

sorry. my mistake.

It already is competition for their own product. That's what has me worried...
