when I first read this parent post, I thought to myself, "that's kinda harsh, I don't think there will be that many misinformed posts." Then I read the posts. I was thinking of just replying to the misinformed posts to inform them, but then I would have replied to almost every post...
The stupidest comment I've read (and it was made by many people in this topic) was, "I will refuse to buy a game with advertisments." That's a pretty rediculous statement considering games have included logos in games for years (as pointed out by this parent as well as the article).
The constitution has the right to bear arms not to protect you from other citizens (that's what the police is for), but to protect you from the government.
The entire constitution was created to protect poeple from government oppression, the 2nd ammendment is no exception.
Right now, you're probably thinking, "what do I need to shoot the government for?" Well imagine this scenerio: government takes guns away from all citizens. The only people carrying guns now are police and military. The government starts doing things you don't like, what are you going to do? Throw stones at them? Tiananmen square anyone?
"But not the US, we're a democracy!" May I remind you that the Nazis were *elected* into office?
There are already dozens of clients/services that offer those things and more. You forgot to list the 2 thing that set AIM apart from all the rest:
1. My grandma can use it
2. It comes with AOL
You weren't doing anything wrong, that method was depricated some time ago, in favor of animated gifs I believe. I really don't know why, it was a cool technique (still is imho). It probably had something to do with problems associated with holding a stream open for so long; I dunno...
Eudora has a really sweet PGP plugin. When I compose a message, there are 2 buttons up top: "Encrypt" and "Sign." All I have to do is type my message and hit one of the buttons before I press send. It also scans incoming mail for PGP blocks, and automagically decrypts/verifies messages. It will ask you for your password at the appropriate time, or you can configure it to store your password. I also have a plugin for ICQ which works similar to the Eudora plugin. That one is kinda overkill, but neat anyway.
The major difference is OpenSSH is a product exactly like SSH, while glaSSHouse is a house made of glass. IBM is a company libm.so is a math library. See the difference?
If I made a computer company called "International Binary Machines" then IBM very well could go after me. But if I made a candy bar called, "I Bite Mocha" then they would have no case.
I would just like to congratulate you on writing the best slashdot post I have read in a long while.

Nice thought, but please verify anti-rumors before spreading them.
