I actually find that hard to believe. For one, I can't imagine ANY apple product with a 5 percent margin. Second, I don't see how software margins could be so high unless India is doing the development, and that is possible.
Yeah and these numbers that Apple has are not telling the whole story. How many copies of windows are sold for parallels, vmware and bootcamp on these Apple laptops? I have no numbers at all. My guess is that it's a really high percentage of Apple units.
Apple is trying to get rid of DRM in their music? How did Amazon get all of theirs without it? Are you telling me the CEO from Amazon is a better negotiator or speaker than Steve Jobs? I don't think so. Face it, it's not in Apple's best interested to remove the DRM.
That's funny, when I tried to install Vista Ultimate x64 it worked fine with 4GB of RAM in my machine. Didn't have to remove any portion of memory so I think something else was up.
have been problematic for me. I've recently purchased my first intel system board (since I don't overclock) and can say that I've had much better stability. There is no downside to having intel stability applied to SLI. That being the case, maybe more games will not have such half assed support (or none) for multiple GPUs.
As someone who owns 2 DSLRs I think this isn't the right market. DSLRs are ridiculously power effecient. You can get 1000 shots maybe w/o charging a battery. I don't know how that turns to pro studio use but for me on vacation that's around 3-4 days. I can certainly stomach charging the battery at night or every 3 days.
The market is the prosumer camera that uses the LCD for framing and focus. That eats a lot of battery, but then does someone's mom taking pictures at a birthday party need a hydrogen fuel cell battery? As other people have pointed out, I don't think that's the right application for this technology.
Couldn't you make the case the the patent system is as messed up as it is BECAUSE of how IBM operates? IBM has for a very long time pushed it's people to gain patents in any field (and awarded them in the past, not as richly anymore as I understand it). This is the same thing that gets microsoft bashed here.
IBM is going to use patents for leverage and for generating revenue based on having the patent whether or not they actively use it.
Preparing to be modded to oblivion.... The safari browser crashes all the time too. No clue why it does this, but it does it on my wife's phone too. It would be a lot better if they'd allow some sort of adblocking on the phone. It's just painful to load pages on EDGE.
Where's the huge disclaimer on apple.com? "Twice as fast, half the price." Apple hasn't been upfront about anything. The news media brought that tidbit out.
I was saying I know that the store is going to be up more because a)it makes money b)they already got your money before you activated c)They didn't plan for a surge of however many million people were activating today.
Which brings up another point, why do you need to reactivate from a firmware upgrade? Hell I had the worst smartphone in a Treo 700p. Never had to reactivate through some bottleneck for it's service updates.
Or I could log into aim from SMS with my 200 free messages and get 1) guaranteed delivery 2) get it real time (unless I'm out of range).
The current AIM app on the iphone, frankly, blows. You have to leave the app open to get a notification that you have a message and when the phone sleeps it will eventually drop you anyway. That necessitates going back to the app to know you have a message anyway. That's shitty in my book. For heavens sake, you can't even LOGOUT manually from the app.
If someone tried to tell you something was 1/2 price but was really more expensive over the term, you think that's ok? It's not 5 bucks more, it's 160+/- more.
Where do you draw the line? It's deceptive and that's a fancy word for a lie.
How about charging ipod touch users 10 bucks so that they can spend money at the app store? That's increasing features so you spend more money. Yes I am aware that they have free apps and they have a bunch that aren't also.
What pisses me off most is that you can still buy shit all day long on the store and not get through activation. Why couldn't they load balance the activation as much as all the other crap? Yes, I know the answer to that.
I swear, if Steve Jobs personally kicked every Apple customer in the balls, 90 percent would talk about how they had it coming for some reason or another.
because people in iraq are giving our military a really hard time with handguns and various things that we could buy here. (and we can buy assault rifles too)
the problem is the handguns in private citizens hands do not increase violent crime. I think there are enough places on the web where you can find information to back up that claim I made. Try England's crime rate as an example.
i wouldn't say it's more important, but it's listed as one of them. Quit trying to pick and choose which ones you agree with.
That requires clicking the link to the article.
NM, I see right in the summary. I'm guessing it's still a joke.
What Palm OS does it run? If it's the same thing my treo 650 ran, it's a joke.
I use a glock you insensitive clod!

Honestly iTunes is fair game for scrutiny.
Which is odd, considering magnification is not enabled by default on new installs.
No, it has a 30 day grace period.

Yeah and I've had 2 of them go bad. One in a 15 inch and one in a 17 inch.

if you want real trouble, put a view camera on a tripod in front of a bridge. At least security guards know what a dSLR is.
link for those who have no idea what it is either.

Can you run notes without wine?

incoming flaimbait....when they added apple.slashdot.org
oh and when commander taco figured out he could play the sims on a powerbook.

FTR, I have a mbp and a generation 1 iphone.
All that stuff is for patents to license or use as leverage against other companies. Do I really qualify as a troll if I've been LEANed from IBM?
is LEAN. How to get rid of American jobs.
mod this guy up.

Don't be a tool. These are valid complaints.
